I recently replaced the battery in my physical Gold cartridge. I started a new game in that. I'm using Crobat, Cyndaquil (I want it to learn Flamethrower earlier on, so I'm not evolving it yet), Espeon, and Squirtle (I bred it from a clone of the Blastoise I used in Yellow).

I somehow managed to get the SDL version of this to compile in Linux Mint by using #include modifications and other stuff. However, it runs at double speed without using throttle. Since using the throttle makes the sound choppy, I'm working on a different way to make it run at normal speed...

I recommend buying a hardcopy of both Red and Blue (for example, on eBay or at GameStop) and then download the ROM's. It's likely that all you'll find anywhere are used ones; (I think) it's still legal to download the ROM's, even if the cartridges don't work.

This should help people who can't get stuff to download.

Seven Island was (and still is) my favorite. However, I love all the islands, with the later four being my favorite (for obvious reasons :P).

Actually, I'd have to argue that Super Mario World is hacked more. Believe me, I've seen a lot more hacks of that game. It's even easier to ASM hack it than Pokemon games. There's way more ASM support for that game, as in, there's a huge ROM Map and a huge RAM Map at a certain SMW hacking...

I like how you picked Emerald as a base because it has the Match Call thing which is potentially usable as a PokéGear replacement. No one ever seems to pick Emerald as a base because it is "unstable," or so they say. The clock in Emerald should also prove useful to you.
