  • I haven't encountered the bug yet. Perhaps it's a bug which only occurs in the old versions.
    Yes, this bug is an existing one which was also found in the very early edition of double wild battle. The problem is that the second rival pokemon's name is not written into the text buffers. However when I tried to load it into the fcode_buffer_0 (or fcode_buffer0 in knizz's ida DB? i can't remember) and make the text use the buffer, the game just crashed. After that I haven't touched the bug yet, because it's not a fatal one. For example, someone can easily edit the text into "Gotcha! The pokemon is caught!" (actually a bad idea).
    The most severe problem is that I don't have time to hack now, so if you want to fix the bug on your own, you can just fork my project on github. It won't be updated in 2017.

    How would I go aboult balancing this?
    Everybody plays different. And i've completed beta 1.0 so far.
    Pretty much, after you clear route 8 the beta ends. I just wanted to know people thought's so far, see if the like it. If there's anything to improve, like you said, more events, keep it more interesting.
    That's weird, it never froze when I entered it, and i've done that meny times, I'll look into it.
    And as for the cryptic entrance, i'll try to make it more noticeable, I did change the tile but it's such a minor change, I don't think anyone will notice, thanks for the tip!
    Oh I see, the border tiles. Thank's, I sometimes forget those. There will be a route continuing to the left, somewhere in the future, didn't bother to put anything there to notify the player as of this beta.

    And to find the grunt, head into the museum and talk to the prof. at the entrance, after that, talk to a mountain wall in route 7, this was intended to be a little secret optional side-quest, but whatever ^^
    The tile should be in the middle of two bushes.
    I already know about the OW fishing palette, I will look into that in the future, thanks anyway.

    And what do you mean by "Found more bugs when moving right to the day care"

    And beta-testers would be nice, as of yet, i'm the only one working and testing so, would be nice.
    lol yeah this is proving a lot harder than i thought it would be to actually do it the way i've wanted to (that is, reverse-engineer how it is done in firered 649)
    jambo did it in some sort of extremely complicated way that i would never want to reproduce ever
    checking out a different way...
    not quite sure yet, haven't written that routine
    if it is a new table it will be mostly the same as the original
