    Cross Gen Online Battling and Trading Question

    I have Pokemon Sun, and my Brother has Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. We live in 2 different states. Can we battle/trade online with each other even though we have different games? They are both 3DS games and wasn't sure if we could or how to do it. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
