Because most people who play to be good don't want to be versed in just one gen. It's just the casual players who only battle when the current gen comes out and then disappear after. You can't say you're one of the best when you only play D/P. And your comparison doesn't make sense because...

The point is that D/P did bring in alot of players, but there's nothing to get them interested about other gens. D/P will just die if a new simulator comes out with the 5th gen, and that's kind of shoddy (pun).

Yeah that's true. Choice Scarf would hinder a wall pretty badly. As for making Mamoswine my SR Pokemon, I feel he's better off as an all-out attacker. I should try Lava Plume though.

Black Sludge works if a wall switches in though, as it isn't as effective without Leftovers. I was thinking of Choice Scarf but it seems like Gengar outspeeds most leads anyway.
