    Pok?mon Timeline

The only real problem I have with saying zero plate shifting is that there are slight differences between Pokémon geography and ours: Sakhalin Island for example appears to have drifted southeast. Also coastlines appear slightly different: makes sense after a considerable length of time, whether...

    Pok?mon Timeline

I've considered tens of millions of years also; I think differing sea levels are important too. Which is part of why I can allow for perhaps tens of thousands of years, especially accounting for all the comets and meteoroids and wars that have struck the Pokémon world in its past. I suppose...

    Pok?mon Timeline

Pokémon Timeline When exactly are the Pokémon games set in relation to our modern day? My current estimate presumes around 20000 years between our time and the beginning of events known in the Pokémon era. But it could be more reent or far more distant. The most important factor is time needed...

    [Theory] Arceus or Mew?

I've thought of it in those terms for a long time now  Although I have my own theory on Mew (see the Mew thread in my signature), I've been convinced that the myth of Arceus is mere myth for quite some time. Nobody created the Pokémon universe but Satoshi Tajiri, haha :pink_giggle:

    [Theory] New Region?

While I don't think that the Lapidarian Highlands would be the setting of a new Pokémon game, I do feel the need to point out the Lapidarian Highlands are a real world location: their Japanese name is Guipna Highlands, which refers to the upper part of the real world Guiana Shield, in...

[Theory] Religions in the Pokémon World

I'm a rare Poké-atheist: I don't believe that the myths and legends about Arceus, etc., are true. There may be kernels of truth there, but for the most part they are very much mythological. There are clearly ancient Pokémon religions (particularly in Hoenn and Sinnoh), however, I believe that...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Thank you  Yes, I think this debate has essentially reached an impasse. We don't necessarily have to agree anyway; I think Game Freak wants the fans to interpret their canon in different ways, frankly. They've left it intentionally vague. To each their own.

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Essentially, yes, my theory is just a explanation for Mew's existence, pieced together from the clues the canon has given us. And say what you will about temporal loops, they're perfectly logically consistent and possible within quantum mechanics and advanced physics. You basically answered your...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

That's very close to what my theory is, yes. As for how Mew fragments into other species, I don't think that's what happened. All we're told definitively in canon about Mew is that it contains the genetic material of every species of Pokémon: experts then speculate that perhaps it is the common...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Essentially the concept is about very gradual hybridization. Imagine, if you will, any given Pokémon mating with Ditto, and the offspring thereof: Ditto is capable of reorganizing its cellular structure at will (I propose this is only possible if, like Mew, its cells contain the DNA of literally...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

I can see evidence that Unown may have had some hand in the creation of Pokémon (possibly: there frankly isn't any solid evidence there, other than the fact that it seems they would have been capable of doing it), though I still have to say that all this Sinnoh mythology with Arceus creating...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Thank you  I disagree with yours/Tao Dragon's hypothesis, on the simple basis of over-speculation. Not enough actual evidence, too much speculation for me. But to each their own.

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Not too different from other hypotheses I've heard; I simply can't accept it. People place far too much significance on the Sinnoh region's mythology, I think. It is mythology after all: and it's quite clear to me that the rather irreligious guys over at Game Freak intentionally based Pokémon...

[Theory] But if Mew was the first pokemon, and Arceus created all Pokemon...

Actually, the Unown created Entei: Unown is the ONLY Pokémon which seems in the canon to have creative powers. Something like turning dreams into reality using their psychic powers: however, since "psychic" by definition is dealing with the mind, it's just as believable that all this "creating"...
