Not such a problem really; I don't have much stuff. Clothes, toiletries, some kitchenware, but other than that it's pretty much just my laptop and a few books.

Add more RAM (if open RAM slots are available) or replace what you have with larger capacity sticks. Try Googling "adding RAM to a computer". Until then, just don't run so many programs at once.

I despise Acer for the sheer volume of crapware that comes pre-installed on their systems. First boot takes an hour while it installs it all against your will, then you spend a few more hours removing everything. I only buy their stuff when I plan on not running the pre-installed OS. That said...
