Agreed. although gen one games had a long story line competitive play was.. lacking. i will say though that gen four games are my least favorite of the series, mainly because they have horrid pokemon in them, and the game exclusive pokemon just make it a hassle to complete your dex.

i agree that animosity towards starters before they are even revealed is misplaced. i myself usually don't train my starter as much as others, so i'm looking forward to seeing some new sprites.
