Steelix does have some monstrous defense, but be VERY careful. Earthquake is one of the most popular moves used in battling, if not the most popular, so you'll probably want to include a Pokemon that resists ground attacks.

It's more of a joke...and I wouldn't exactly go about calling it weak. An Adamant Zam with Swords Dance to it has an attack power of 436. That's pretty scary...and now now I'm really tempted to try it.
Unless someone wants to really surprise someone with a Swords Dance Baton Passing to a physical Zam, but...meh, >_>. I wouldn't do that. I DO wanna' try though...

Duh, but it's a lot better than Fly. And it's obvious you wouldn't be running Air Slash in a Crobat with no Sp. Attk EVs. Instead you'd use Aerial Ace as sims796 said.
Fly is horrible. The only Pokemon I know that can use both Mean Look and Fly is Crobat. IF I ever used Crobat, I sure wouldn't be using Fly. It'd be Mean Look + Air Slash.
