    You can add your item image and pallate using nlz gba or UNLZ gba advance"DO NOT REPOINT POINTERS" . And change its image and palette using item image editor "BY SWAMPERT TOOLS" just edit the ????? Item's image and pallete OFFSET with your image and pallete offset where you imported the image...

    You have to add items as normal and use a script to give item using XSE
