So are the black and white cards still in use? Because I see them on sale but there's obviously the x and y ones out now

Well I'd obviously like to start playing amongst other friends who are also looking to get into the game but obviously if it became a really interesting hobby then official tournaments sound great!

Can anyone give me some general advice on the tcg? I mean they still sell the black and white cards but they also sell the x and y cards. Just need help and advice in general really, thanks in advance.
