I don't actually play this new EX game, just started collecting it, what is the difference between a card and an EX card? Someone just mentioned a Wailord and a Wailord EX as two different cards..?

I played when the very first trading card came out, I played with two friends who also collected with me.. but now I am collecting on my own, but I'm not sure if I were to go back to playing as well because it's not exactly the most fun of card games ^_~ (I know better) But I won't stop...
