Pretty fun hack so far (I'm only up to the cave), but I'm finding the levels are a tad high (I'd take SM as an example of good early-game levels) and there should probably be a healing spot in the first town. Other than that, not too bad.

I do have a bit of an idea for future sprites: Maybe you could show a bit of their element in the sprite, like some RB sprites did?
Er...I meant non-Kanto evolutions; sorry for the confusion. Again, I forget where I found the fix, but it boiled down to "change the byte at address X from Y to Z," which is straightforward enough that even with a very basic knowledge of hex editing I was able to do it.
This sounds like the byte to allow cross-generational evolutions hasn't been edited. I forget what the byte was, but I do know that a hex edit on that byte alone stops the game from preventing cross-generational evolutions (e.g. Golbat -> Crobat).
