Maybe Blue could have tried not being a douche. If his Ratticate did die on the S.S. Anne (and I personally think he just boxed it) it was Blue's fault, Blue challenged you to battle, Blue sent Ratticate into battle, it's the trainer's responsibility to make sure their Pokemon are safe.
