I've encountered a few shinies, but each have been in past generation games. I've yet to encounter any in the 4th generation games (asides from the Red Gyarados in PKMN HG/SS).
The only shinies I've encountered in the wild are Cleffa & Krabby, in Pokémon Crystal, and Poochyena & Rayquaza, in...
Though it is true that Pichu evolves from happiness, advancing a level is still necessary to "trigger" the evolution.
EDIT: whoops. by the time i replied, this was already answered... xD
agreed. not many players would use a Masterball on regular wild Pokémon, and in this case, a Net Ball would indeed have been sufficient.
more than likely, when you recieve a Pokémon caught in a Masterball, it's because the player had already hacked numerous Masterballs and caught the Pokémon in...
being caught in a Masterball doesn't necessarily mean it was hacked. though it may seem a little suspicious, the Pokémon itself could still have been caught legit.
Scyther can indeed be found/caught at Lv. 52 on route 229 (Diamond)
the only shinies i've randomly encountered have been Krabby, Poochyena, and Rayquaza. in the case with Krabby, however, i did not have any Pokéballs stocked :\
and here is my petit list of shinies:
Mightyena (migrated from Emerald)
Rayquaza (migrated from Emerald)
Voltorb (GTS)
Spinda (GTS)...
I've seen 4 shiny pokémon, but've only caught two of the four I've seen.
Shiny Poochyena (now a Shiny Mightyena)
Shiny Voltorb (missed)
Shiny Zubat (missed)
and a Shiny Rayquaza
Yes, the legendary dog will still appear, even with repel on, as long as the Pokémon placed first in your party is lower than LV. 50. I'm assuming you don't know how repel works? Repel doesn't keep away all Pokémon, only Pokémon of a lower level than that of the Pokémon first in your party, so...
Hmmm... If I am understanding correctly, you have engaged in a battle with Lugia and cannot seem to catch it, no matter how many Pokéballs you throw at it?
If so, how did you encounter Lugia? Did you actually visit a Nintendo Event to obtain the ticket required to enable access to Navel Rock...
It's true that Pokémon may inherit moves from it's father Pokémon, but the moves it may inherit are preset. A Pokémon may only inherit TM/HM moves that the it may normally learn from a TM/HM, or other preset moves called Egg moves. Also, aside from elemental types, Pokémon also have Egg-types...
This actually sounds quite interesting... Since it seems to have helped many other people in this thread, I think I'll try it as well (once I actually get that far in LG, I turned on my game and it only had the New Game option?).
Hmmm... Well, the move Earthquake doesn't effect Flying-type Pokémon, and Phychic-type moves such as Phychic don't effect Dark-type Pokémon. All of their Pokémon are vulnerable to Dark-type attacks if I am correct, and most of their Pokémon are vulnerable to Water-type moves... I don't know if...
