I seem to remember there was some sort of Tauros tournament in the anime (I think in the Johto season?) where everyone competed to see if they had the best Tauros. Ash participated with one of his Tauros that live at Oak's ranch and I think he beat some random trainer.

I wouldn't choose Strigfowl as the name for a Noctowl evo; "fowl" makes it sound like a chicken. A name I think would work better for it is Spectowl, derived from 'specter' and 'owl'. I suppose another root might be 'spectacle', noting that owls have superior eyesight, but when I was thinking of...

Manaphy isn't catchable in DP, you need to do the special mission on Pokemon Ranger in order to get the egg it comes in. I think that would probably count as an event pokemon.
