I found bottle caps quite easy to get. First do the lotto shops on the plaza and with some of them on the very first time after placing it you get a normal bottle cap.
Also when doing the battle tree you get bottle caps for doing various things and I think you can trade shards from the island...
Just send over your original non alolan forms from prior games and job done or trade with someone to get the non alolan version. More options is always good however so id not be opposed of a way of getting original non regional variations too. Im sure this will be an issue with Galar too in...
I personally prefer US/UM as i love alola and its special forms and the story is great too. Plus the customisation and no HM's is a huge thing for me. Hyper training too is a great way of getting those not so great legendaries and event pokemon to be as good as the best bred ones.
I liked X...
I always transfer my living dex to the new game as it becomes my main one. I try not to use any of my previously bred pokemon on first run through though so as to not spoil the game.
Aside from Necrozma hitting so hard I didnt find this too bad. Mimikyu as my first up gave me a nice safety net and got his HP right down then I rotated a few others to wittle him down and revive mimikyu who finished him off.
Having high affection really helps too.
As per sig im close...very close. I had it all completed with Su/Mo but then they added a few more. Just need to complete USu and Ill be complete again.
I completed all in Black then again in Omega Ruby and have carried on topping up since then.
It is daunting to start the living pokedex...
That first teacher battle is a real pain. I think the games are easier now but there's still a few curveball fights in there to catch you out.
I do find it annoying that your rival gets the pokemon weak to your starting type, im sure they always used to get the strong one.
I EV train but do miss Super training, that was a much more straightforward way to do it than the Sun/Mo methods. Its not hard in Su/Mo but i found super training to be nicer.
I never used to but now my bred pokemon I always name. I dont bother with my throwaway teams when playing the story but any im keeping I name. Legendaries I generally leave with the default name although I called my Sun/Moon legends Nebby because yeah...
