I really appreciate this hack as an improved but still distinctly Gen 1 version of Kanto. One thing I noticed however is that the while the backsprites for Pokemon are higher resolution, the backsprites for Red and the Old Man are still the original 28x28 versions. Poketto and SteppoBlazer have...
This hack looks very close to what I would want out of a HGSS hack. Thanks for making it. A few questions:
* Now that the linking cord has been introduced as a canon evolution item in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, would you consider replacing the covenant orb with it?
* Would you consider making...
Thanks for the response. I'm sorry if I came across as overly critical. To tell you the truth I have next to no knowledge when it comes to asm hacking so what you've done is far more than I could ever do.
The only reason I asked about the A-button HM use is because it's already been implemented...
This is a pretty great hack and exactly the kind of thing I was looking for in a Gen 1 QOL hack. A few nitpicks though:
Out of curiosity, why Select? Why not the A button like in every other Pokemon game? Certainly not a dealbreaker but I find this a bit unintuitive.
I think the EXP bar...
This is a really cool hack, thank you for making it. I wanted to ask, is there any chance you could release a version that preserves the QOL updates without the spaceworld aesthetic changes (except maybe the backsprites)? I ask because there really isn't a "conservative" QOL hack for Gen I that...
Thanks for the thorough response! I suppose when you release the source files for the latest patch I can cobble together my own "legal" version of Throwback. Otherwise, I'll just try to catch those Pokemon in Pokeballs and avoid transferring the Legendary Beasts. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for all your work on this hack! Two quick questions:
1.) Can Pokemon from this hack be transported to future games and ultimately to Bank or will they be caught by the legality checker? If so, what specific changes are the cause of this.
2.) Is there a "reverse" save-compatibility...
Thanks for all the work you guys have put into this. I'm very interested in the idea of using the 386 version of this for an "enhanced" run-through of FireRed, but I'd be even more interested if you could somehow achieve compatibility with the "Pokemon Throwback" hack. There are several nice...
Great to hear you'll still be working on this. Quick question: In the current beta, what's the key to open the menu? I only seem to be able to do so using the mouse.
Random thought: Might be cool to change the NES in player's bedroom to a SNES like the original games.
Also, is the trainer line "I'm a rambling, gambling dude" restored? vs. "I'm a rambling, gaming dude"
The juggler in Koga's gym "Dropped my balls!"
And the Channeler that says...
Thank you for the detailed and even handed response! I guess the only question I have remaining is: which games do you see as this being the "definitive version" of? The whole Generation I adventure or the Generation III remakes specifically? I ask that because FireRed and LeafGreen already...
Fair enough, I know those aren't the most popular features and they do make the game easier, although the Exp. Share is totally optional.
Also, I thought of another feature that would be fun: an optional Pokemon Yellow patch for those who have fond memories of that version of the game. I...
Awesome! I've got quite a few then. Keep in mind that some of these are pretty pie in the sky. I also don't do ROM Hacking myself, so I don't know how easy or difficult anything is to implement, so I'm just going to suggest everything and left you wade through the stupid ideas:
Things that I...
Hey, longtime lurker, first time poster. I just wanted to give you props on this awesome hack. I see a lot of hacks that try to create essentially new games, which is cool, but I'm personally more interested in hacks that improve and iterate upon the great foundation that is these classic games...
