PokéBanq

I'm a huge Pokémon fan. Like my intro says, I've been playing since Red was still just a half-translated ROM (from Japanese to English), back in late 1996. I still remember waiting on each new issue of Nintendo Power magazine, hoping they'd feature some Pokémon pictures with the translated names, as this was my only way of knowing what I'd caught, fought, and seen. Ohh to go back to something like that....

Now I'm a dad, with a grown up life, and still love the series as much as I ever have, maybe even more. The time has come to teach my oldest kiddo how to play, and then watch her set off on her own journey in the world of Pokémon. Her experience will be very different from my own, but I'm hoping she still has some of the same feelings and emotions I've had while enjoying this series of games.

My favorite generation is the first. It holds immense sentiment for me, and some of my fondest memories of gaming come from that first generation. I've played all of the main line games, but I'm least familiar with generation 5. That was a busy period in my life, and by the time I got caught up with Pokémon games, I was more interested in USUM, since the 3DS was so easy to get.

Which leads to my last bit of biography stuff when it comes to these Pokémon games. To put it plainly....

I. Love. To. Cheat.

These games make it easy to cheat my way to the things I like. Whether it be an exploit in-game, or some codes with a piece of external hardware, or in more recent times sending commands to a bot, it's always been easy to do. I don't do PvP. I don't trade my shinies. I don't give out Master Balls via wonder trade. I just like how some Pokémon look when they're shiny, and the little sparkle animation is fun too. It used to be more than that, but that era of cheating died with the Action Replay, for me.

Currently playing Scarlet, counting down the days to the Indigo Disc release. I also have Sword, Let's GO Eevee, Legends Arceus, Brilliant Diamond, and Ultra Moon. As for ROMs, I just finished the story in Fire Red Team Rocket Edition, and I'm about 3 badges in to Glazed, although I'm having a difficult time staying focused when I'm playing this one. Not sure why, if I'm being honest. It's a wonderful ROM with a good story and original region. It just doesn't draw me in for some reason. I'm tossing around the idea of shelving it in favor of playing Unbound for the first time, and then try picking up Glazed again after that.

That's about it. Seems pointless to talk about games other than Pokémon, at least here. I am looking forward to Super Mario RPG Remake. The original SMRPG is my second favorite game of all time, since I consider all Pokémon games to be my absolute favorite, as a series, over all other games. I've seen the leak, I know it's there. But I'm gonna leave this one alone. The kiddos want to get it for me as a birthday gift, and I won't take that away from them. Besides that, if I'm playing SMRPG Remake, I won't be playing Scarlet, which means my oldest daughter can probably jump in and begin her journey in the world of Pokémon.

Pokémon. I like Pokémon.
Isn't that why we're here?
