I've been messing around with Gen 1 and 2 tiles and I've put together two maps I'd like feedback on.
I've included two versions of each map; one with just the base map, the other with an example of what the area will look like with characters populating it.
The first is one of the floors of a...
I'm just messing around a bit with color and lighting with Generation 2 tiles in my continuing mostly-just-messing-around project. The particles floating around are meant to make it look dusty, so I'm going to have to work on them a bit.
Some shots from the game I'm messing around on, mostly just making sure the party movement and area transition stuff works correctly. It has a few problems (in the third screenshot you can see that the last two members are walking incorrectly), but it's a simple fix.
I'm also wondering whether...
I love Wingull, Pelipper and Wailord. They feel really natural and do a good job at filling out the beaches and "touristy" water areas.
I don't like Wailmer, though. It just feels unnecessary to me; Wailord would have been pretty cool as a standalone Pokemon.
If I really like the colouring (Ponyta with blue fire? Yes please!) I'll use them in one of my parties. Otherwise I'll either box them or trade them to someone who wants it and catch a normal version of the Pokemon.
I tend to avoid evolving Haunter, Graveller, Kadabra, Pidgeotto, Tranquill or Ducklett. I prefer their designs to those of their evolutions and I don't engage in competitive battling, so it doesn't really hurt my play.
I sometimes just give up and let them evolve when I get sick of hitting "B"...
For Blue:
Dino, my Bulbasaur.
Fast Eddy, my Pidgeotto.
Genius, my Slowpoke.
Cackle, my Haunter.
Flash, my Dragonair.
Hex, my Kadabra.
They've pretty much been my team for almost fifteen years. Wow do I feel old.
I'd have to say Kanto is my favorite, since I love all three of the Kanto starters. It's closely followed by Johto (I like Totodile and Cyndaquil), then rounded off by Hoenn and Unova (both of their Fire starters are cool). I just don't like any of Sinnoh's starters.
When I was a kid there was a show before school that would show cartoons and have some segments with hosts cracking jokes and talking about cartoons.
One day they announced they had a new show they were adding to their lineup. It was the first episode of Pokemon.
Pretty much immediately I and...
Totodile is my first; a super-happy, adorable little crocodile is a great companion for Johto! Cyndaquil is a close second, though; he becomes a real terror the older and stronger he gets.
I prefer Black and White 2. While the addition of the first and second generation of Pokemon immediately gives it points, I prefer it because the story wasn't as obnoxiously in your face as in Black and White.
In the first games every five steps you'd be interrupted by one of the main...
I both White and Black 2 I chose Tepig. Lucha libre wrestler plus ancient Greek pottery plus giant angry fire pig? Awesome. Just name him El Odio and I'm ready to take Unova by storm.
I know younger me would have loved to be able to rebattle almost everyone in the game like in Gold/Silver. After a certain point there isn't really anyone to fight except the Elite Four repeatedly.
I tend to decide based on how they're designed and characterised in the different Pokemon media, and what significance they gain for me in the games. I'm quite fond of Graveler simply because I'd happened to capture a Geodude in Yellow and it ended up becoming one of my main Pokemon, whereas I...
