In src/new_game.c it looks like it sets the default battle style on line 96. You can change that, and then you just have to remove the option from the menu. This part is certainly more complicated, but I think changing src/option_menu.c will work.
I don't see how this is useful. Especially for a novice, who would likely need to recompile things a lot, wouldn't zipping/uploading/downloading so much be much more of a hassle than just setting it up once?
