    It's quirky nature and silly dialogue. I also enjoy the fact that pretty much ANYTHING in that game can be an enemy - from taxi cabs to moles. I also like that the games' characters help even each other out. You can have a PSI user and someone who has a high defense with plenty of helper items.

    So? Not everything has to have a happy ending. Sometimes games just end better with a more "depressing" ending. You really can't. The Mother series just has a certain personality that other games haven't come close to emulating.
