I'm the same way. It's a shame- editing the text was one of two things I needed to do before I could release the first version of my hack, but it seems like there's no way to make that happen.

Yeah, same here. It's a shame- I can get Advance Map working in Wine just fine, but XSE and PKSV won't work with it when I try. I was hoping this was the solution, but it seems I will have to look elsewhere.

Ooh, that's a fair point. I suppose if you can go into the script for one of the Gym Leaders, you might be able to find the code for giving the badge. Then you can just put that code (and the code for all the rest of the badges) in the dialogue of one of the people at the beginning of the game...

You could use G3S and add Fly and Surf to all the starters such that they'd learn it at level 1. Or to Pidgey/Rattata/Mankey/Spearow, whatever floats your boat. You could also try editing Viridian Mart so that you can buy the HM's there for cheap (say $1), but I haven't really played around...

I'm using Sappy 2006 to stick some music into my FireRed hack, but no matter what .s file or track that I'm replacing I use, clicking "Assemble that ugly thing!" crashes the program with no error message (besides the standard "has encountered an error" thing). What's going on?
