There is a sparkle effect kinda thing that flies across them when they appear and their colours are different, so when you actually see one you can't miss that it is shiny :P

When picking a starter, can you see if it is shiny before you choose (the little picture u see) or do u have to find out after u have picked?

I caught a shiny rattata in lg on route 2 and can you see if a starter is shiny, on the picture that pops up? or do you have to actually pick a started then check to see if it is shiny?
