I had to practice it for a bit but the best way is to use repels since the timer still ticks even when you encounter a pokemon.

Loving the hack for the most part but world 5 is so tedious and doesn't feel fun at all. I have to replay through the whole thing again because of the game freezing and it apparently didn't register my in game saves in the safari area.
