I think it's an interesting point to make about the watering down of legendary status when you introduce too many of them. When you can't throw a rock without hitting a legendary pokemon it's hard to treat the idea of a legendary pokemon with the same awe and respect.

I can back this, that evolution line is pretty awful. I definitely go out of my way to avoid those... things.

I don't think I've ever used the master ball in any pokemon game. I have the habit of keeping it "just in case I end up needing it" which turns out to be never as I'll end up brute forcing my way through all the legendary encounters with a ludicrous amount of pokeballs.
