But there is no way of checking if the game is real until you receive the game, which is probably too late. That's why I would prefer to use a proper shop rather than some random guy who happens to be selling the game, as the proper shops only get their stock from proper suppliers.

Is there actually a way to verify that your game is not a fake before you buy it? Because when I got my Emerald, it look like it was a proper version, but after completing the Elite 4 the save was deleted. Now if you save a game at any point, reset the console, the game will have no save files...
