The thing that's great about EVs and IVs as it is right now is the fact that they're easy to understand, hard to master, but not forced upon the player. I think we can expect the current system to stay similar, but maybe with more items and breeding options to make it more convenient for the player.

I picked Chimchar in almost all my plays of D/P, simply because there weren't any other options (I refused to use Ponyta).
In Platinum, I've used Houndoom and Magmortar in separate files, and they were both excellent teammates.
I think the problems are the Volbeat and Regirock.
As for Volbeat, it shouldn't have it's dream world ability if it was caught on Route 3.
Also, since Regirock was met in the Dream World, its ability should be Sturdy, not Clear Body.
