Yes and then when you run it on windows and use SDL's surfaces for rendering, you will automatically use DirectX. Get it yet? :D

Are you aware of the fact that SDL is simply a wrapper around certain renderers? DirectX on windows. So even if you "stick with SDL", on windows that means you're sticking with DirectX ;)
DirectX is one of the rendering engines that SDL uses. Also, DirectX is very good, there is absolutely no reason to not give users the possibility to use it.
I personally have played MMORPG's that have thousands of satisfied players even when the map has lots of generic areas. It's all about gameplay in these types of games. If the gameplay is fun and addicting, the minor things (e.g. the graphics or the map layout) won't matter as much.

Listen, it's not the character customization itself that TheUnknown is talking about. It's about using that particular concept in a Pokemon MMO. We just think that proper credit is due, since obviously it has been given wrongly.
