    FireRed hack: Personal Fire Red

I think I finally found a justification. Rhyhorn learns Megahorn (the last move learnt by it in gen 3) at level 57, while Rhydon learns that at 66. I'm not sure if Giovanni knows the learnset of Rhyhorn, but I believe he definitely knows that Pokemon learn moves sooner if they're not evolved too...

    FireRed hack: Personal Fire Red

FRLG didn't have Rhyperior, but Giovanni could've kept Rhydon, but didn't. It seems like a coding mistake or something. That's why I want a justification about having two unevolved Pokemon while one of them being the ace.

    FireRed hack: Personal Fire Red

A random question. Giovanni has two Rhyhorn in FRLG (probably a mistake), one being his ace. Can you justify having two unevolved Pokemon and one of them being an ace (usually, the ace is always evolved if there's already an unevolved form of it, e.g., in RGB, Giovanni had Rhyhorn and Rhydon)?

3rd Gen What went wrong with FRLG?

I don't really mind FRLG, but the one and only major mistake (for me) FRLG has is this: I think the developers realised this mistake and made Giovanni not keep Rhydon/Rypherior in his team in HGSS. But I still want a justification about why Giovanni's ace in FRLG is Rhyhorn when he already has...

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

Oh, this thread's been dead for a year. Maybe because I said, "I think it's ok". I probably won't get another reply, since it's dead, but I still want the answer, since no Kanto gym leader's ace is an unevolved Pokemon (the exception being Onix, since there's no non-Kanto Pokemon unless...

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

I think it's ok if Giovanni has Rhyhorn instead of Rhydon, because there are many gym leaders and trainers that have Pokemon that shouldn't have. For example, Bruno, the fighting specialist, has two Onix, Agatha, the ghost specialist, has a team that looks more like poison type team instead of...

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

I know that you can become champion even if you're underleveled, because I watched some videos. I also think it might be a mistake. Even if Rhydon can be defeated easily, it's presence feels strong. And just like Rhydon, any Pokemon who is rock and ground type can be defeated by any grass or...

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

In FR/LG, the levels were only reduced to two for the elite four and the champion. So the late-game grinding won't change much. I just want a reason which makes sense for Giovanni's ace in FR/LG so I can be fine with it.

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

I don't think Rhydon is that much powerful, is it? And I think the reason that the elite four and the champion have levels reduced is because rematch exists. Do you have some more reasons?

    3rd Gen Giovanni's ace in FR/LG

Can anyone please explain why Giovanni has a Rhyhorn as his ace instead of Rhydon in FR/LG?
