I remember I had my friend migrate my Pokes over before I had the national dex so I could use them against the elite four. I believe I migrated a Venusaur, Pidgiot, Raichu, Rhyhorn, Lapras, and Dragonite. Yes I realize that team is complete fail but I just like those Pokes. As for suggestions...

*Sigh* I have such bad luck finding shinies. I was hunting for a shiny whooper for some time in D/P, but no luck. *Ish jealous of friend who has two shinies* I remember my first shiny I ever caught was a Whooper in Gold. I didn't know what it was and I swam around in the same spot for an hour...

Usually I just battle with them/feed them poffins. A soothe bell would help if you've got one.

Never done that before, and I don't think I'd have the patience to. I did used to restart my old games a lot though and replay the entire thing without transfering my Pokes.
