    INTRODUCTION
Technically, this is my first fangame as a hobbyist in game-making. After seeing a lot of things since I started studying at a university, I thought, "Why not make a fangame about it?" Putting them together, paired versions of fangames were born: Pokemon Collective and Mercantile.
NOTE: Screenshots and information subjected to change.

    BACKSTORY
The Bulwark Region is known for its diversity and its majestic waterfalls. At its centre is a place that brings light and hope to everybody, which is supposed to quench the dark imagery brought by the Pearlorient archipelago, in which this region is part of.
In this place there were two groups who have opposing ideals. One advocates equality towards all regardless of background, known for its red burning star. The other advocates immunity for the highly privileged, known for its
    yellow winged hammer.
For years the battle of the two groups were fair. Until a highly biased mediator who is in favor of one group handled the issues.
Ever since this mediator brings this place under his control, a random amount of chaos occurred. During the yearly battle, cries of unfair disqualification fill the air. As a result, lower class people were forced to submit expensive items, including rare treasures and food, in order to comply important matters. Pokemon battles between the upper and lower classes had come to conditions that end up in unfair consequences.
Other parallel incidents occur inside and outside of the Bulwark Region. Day-care eggs being switched, poor Trainers getting kidnapped in warehouses by oligarch-hired goons, whistleblowers suffering from amnesia, and the sudden appearances of the following items: DNA tests, last will and testament documents, diaries, all related to the same parallel incidents in and out of the Bulwark Region.
Even the Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, who happen to be in the middle class, are already tired of discussing these same matters over and over again. Some of them have already planned to leave the Pearlorient Archipelago for good once they are done with being a Gym Leader or an Elite Four member, because the incidents made them lose their patriotism. Some managed to make networks with their friends, however, due to the negative influence floating over the archipelago, the plans failed. Until a few of the League members managed to befriend the two clashing groups...

    PLOT
You are a teenager living at Newborn Town, located at the northern part of Central Bulwark. Your mom receives a letter of invitation from the Bulwark Institute, which states that after a few months, you will be admitted to the world-class Bulwark Institute. As an additional reward, you are given your own Pokemon by the regional professor, Professor Lewis Anahaw. However, the yearly battle that occurs a month before the end of the semester (in which is also the same time you receive your letter of admission) bothers not only the Bulwark Institute's studentry, but even the whole Bulwark Region!
Fate has decided that you will find the true cause of the controversy surrounding this yearly battle and what drives this mysterious mediator to bring everything to chaos.

    ADDITIONAL INFO
The Bulwark Region is divided into three subregions, and is treated as three separate regions in-game. Inside the spoilers are sketches of the three subregions.

    VILLAINS
Inspired by Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the region has two villains. Depending on the version, one takes the antagonist role while the other has a supporting role.

    Team Starburn
Team Starburn aims for equality for everybody regardless of political background. However, they take things to the extreme. They are well known for protesting, but when confronted, will battle aggressively. They use Pokemon to protect the common people against influential people who abuse their power, but sometimes what they do and they say don't match up.

    Team Hammervoice
Team Hammervoice, being backed by the wealthy elite of the Pearlorient Archipelago, in which the Bulwark Region is part of, is well known for being unclear in their duties, according to some of the region's anonymous sources. They have dominated the yearly battle for many years thanks to the biased mediator mentioned in the backstory.

Wow, a Pokemon game with class differences and economics! That does look pretty appealing! How many Pokemon will be included in the game, and will there be a randomizer option?

All 721 Pokemon will be included, since fakemon are hard to come up because I happen to use the Gen 6 sprites.
Also, what is this randomizer option?

Anyway, the class differences were partly inspired by common plots in Philippine soap operas.

In games like Zeta/Omicron and Insurgence and also in Rot8ter Cone's engine demon for Pokemon Entropy, there is an option to randomize both wild and trainer Pokemon you encounter in the game. I believe Umbreon has a script for it in the scripts and tutorials section of the site. It basically randomizes all the Pokemon in the game, which is useful for replay value or people who want a more diverse team early on.

Update: I noticed that I haven't posted in this thread for weeks since real-life stuff happens, along with mapping a few parts of the Bulwark Institute in Guardiangel City. And I also happen to work on the Android-based Pokewalker for this fangame at the same time.

Now, I hereby introduce the Bulwark Region's first Gym Leader, Emily.
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:

    Biography:
Emily is the Gym Leader of Scallopfish Town, and she uses Fairy-types. According to Scallopfish residents, she is very polite. She, along with the Trainers in the Gym, loves a certain type of drama series that came from a place that is located far from the Pearlorient Archipelago, and sometimes makes references to those dramas when talking. Whenever a challenger approaches her in the Gym, the first word they usually hear from her is the phrase "Annyonghaseyo (Hello)," which she got from those dramas. She wears a slightly modernised hanbok that has the colours of her favourite Pokemon.
