4th Gen What do you think the D/P Pokemon's English names will be?

Not all Pokemon will have their names changed though. Some will still have their Japanese names, or at least something close to them.

Pikachu is an example of one. In Japanese, Mew was respelled from Myu.
I can't think of any others.

i have a japanese guide and i discovered something interesting

Haru from haruka is japanese for spring, which is an obious reason why she was called May.

I dont see anything about Hikari exept Aki, japanese for fall.

so june is unlikely,but Augu?septi?novim?my book must be misedited
 
Japanese is totemo (very) useful for playing Japanese-made games like Pokémon.
Satoshi was Ash's name (after his creator, of course), so are these people friends of Satoshi Taijiri?
 
I predicted very early on that Nintendo would do something stupid like dubbing Natoru as "Naturtle"
 
Hikazauru (might be mispelt) --> Rakikey (LOL)
Naetoru --> Busain
Pochama --> Pemuin

I think they've already come up with the 3 starter's names, oh well.
 
They've now officially named Diaruga as 'Dialga' and Parukia as 'Palkia'. I think they could have done better, personally, but I guess it's good that they're near to the Japanese names...
 
lol for some reason I was lead to believe that Dialga and Palkia were there Japanese names. I was hoping for something else myself.
 
Ok here's more:

Scorpi --> Smarpi
Rentora --> Stacat
Mukubird --> Mulkird

Weird names right? Oh well.
 
Diaruga and Parukia were the romanisations of the Japanese names, but the japanese 'R' sounds sort of meld with the letter 'L', and the 'u' at the end of sounds can also be silenced, so Dialga and Palkia are technically the same as the Japanese. Lucario is the same (Japanese: Rukario)
 
I think Kureseria's English name will be Crecilia-- Look at the Wikipedia for it:

I don't know if this has been discovered yet; heck, it might not even be acurate, but I'm proud of myself.

I don't like the name 'Crecilia'. Seriously. It reminds me of Celia from Harvest Moon. (My favourite wife BTW xD)

Okay, stop right there. Wiki is nowhere near reliable for anything, much less something like this which is so open to personal interpretation.
 
Of course, half the things you guys said, are already the Japanese romanized names...

Emuritto -- Emrit
Yukushī --Yuxie
Agunomu -- Agnome

Some syllables arent emphasized that much, so what you see on the right is how you pronounce what's on the left.

Also, a few things...

Hikari actually means light, so theyll probably work off that
I think Riolu aready is Rioru's romanized name, no?

For some reason, I still think Kolink (romanized) already is the perfect name for Korinku, after all, 'link' does vaguely have something to do with electricity!

And I got another idea, Jibacoil = Magnatrix?
 
Wikipedia is what I use for my sources. If I see something wrong, then I just edit it (I don't go crazy and start spamming everywhere, 'cause that's just wrong :( )

The only thing is, you just got to know what you're looking for before you start reading various junk; otherwise, you'll end up thinking the word Arseus comes from the word Butt and Serious. Not funny~

DIALGA and PALKIA aren't the English names? I thought Serebii.Net (even though it has its up and downs) was a reliable source. Guess not :(

Anyways, I'll take a half-hearted guess (because so many of my guesses fall wrong that I don't even care anymore) at the legendary Pokemon names.

Darkrai = Phantis (That name just sounds appealing to me for some reason, I can't tell why. Maybe because of the word Phantom in it.)

Arseus = Alseus / Alzeus (You knew they couldn't resist a pun from those old Zeus mythology :P)

That's my 0.0002 cents. Not worth much, but you can lose it, and that's all that matters :D
 
Okay then... But isn't Crecilia so different that it must be the English name?
 
Tamanta's now got an as-yet-unofficial name: Mantyke (manta + tyke). It's okay, better than anything I could think of, I guess.
I think they'll keep the name Darkrai (maybe changing the spelling to Darkray, as it makes SOME sense), but Sheimi will probably change. Naturehog, anyone?

...Okay, um...

Elekible = Electabull (kind of sticking with the same idea behind Dialga & Palkia)
 
I think that the closest translation of Erekiburu is either, as you say, Electabull, or Elecable, as in electric cables, but that maybe a little tacky sounding...
 
Hm, regarding Sheimi...we have fully japanese names such as "Raikou" that were kept. If those weren't changed, then there's really not much reason to change a name like "Sheimi". :s

Anyways...um. I haven't really thought too much about names, but here's my one guess (and only because it popped up unbidden in my mind the other day):

"Sproutle" for Naetle.
