  • Chapter 16 - Final Battle: Start!

"So this is it, I guess." Green commented to Red. Although he talked with his usual cocky tone, his eyes betrayed his nervousness. After witnessing Missingno's power, he wasn't too sure if the monster was truly beatable.
Red kept his eyes on Misingno, remembering the previous battle. Even with three Pokemon at once, he was thrashed. But now it was up against nineteen opponents - The full roster's of Red, Green and Lance along with Mew and Mewtwo.
None of them knew if any damage had been inflicted on the glitchy mess pixels. It made no cry, no notice of pain, but it may just be because it apparently had no mind. Nothing could be truly invincible.

"You two, quit stalling!" Lance called to the two youths. Dragonite lowered itself to allow Lance to mount. With a brief nod to each other, Red mounted Charizard while Green mounted Pidgeot.
"Exxegutor, Alakazam! Take position on the coast and use your Psychic attacks to attack from afar!" Green ordered his Pokemon. Quickly, his Pokemon ran to the shore, ready to attack. Green then ordered Rhydon, Arcanine, Machamp to wait in case Missingno came near the island.
"Espeon, Bulbasaur, help them out!" Red shouted. His two Pokemon ran up next to Green's Pokemon. Espeon would assist with Psychic attacks while Bulbasaur would use Razor Leaf and Solar Beam. Next, Red ordered Wartortle and Snorlax to surf and attack from below with Water attacks and Hyper Beam respectively. Pikachu would ride with Red, allowing Pikachu a chance to attack from the air.
Finally, Lance ordered Gyarados to assist Red's Pokemon in the Water while the rest of his Pokemon would attack from the air.

Mewtwo watched the three trainers quickly arranging their Pokemon for an all out assault. They certainly seemed determined. Especially the boy in red, who's spirit had been crushed not long before. Although he couldn't see how mere humans could succeed where even he couldn't, Mewtwo was currently too tired to continue fighting right away, but he wasn't out of the fight yet.
Mew floated around his cloned companion, making it his duty to stop Mewtwo from fighting until he had recovered enough. The small pink feline hoped that the combined abilities of all of them would allow Mew the chance to try and rearrange the DNA of the creature, hopefully restoring the pixels to its previous state, and possibly reversing the effects of all the infected humans and Pokemon. Then finally it could get back to playing.

"Everyone, Let's go!" Lance shouted, and the three trainers took off with their Pokemon. Every air based Pokemon flew towards Missingno and began circling in different altitude's, while the Pokemon from the sea placed themselves below Missingno. The shore based Pokemon watched intently, hoping for a chance to contribute to the downfall of the monster.
Missingno, who had floated in place, as if waiting for a battle to commence, suddenly shot forward, towards one of Lance's Dragonair's. Surprised, the Pokemon was slow to react, and barely avoided the charge. Without slowing down, Missingno changed direction and aimed for the Pokemon on the shore.
"Psychic!" Green roared at his Pokemon. Immediately, Alakazam and Exxegutor blasted the creature with immense mental energy. It succeeded in slowing Missingno down, but it kept on coming,
"Stop it with Vine Whip!" Red shouted, and Bulbasaur shot its vines from its bulb, wrapping them around Missingno. It tried to stop the Missingno from moving, but it kept pushing forward.

It won't stop moving... Red noted with worry, but kept a determined expression. He couldn't doubt his Pokemon, or else they had already lost.
"Espeon, Confusion! Bulbasaur, Stun Spore!" Red directed. Espeon's gem on its forehead glowed a slight red as a small amount of psychic energy slammed into Missingno, intent on confusing it. Bulbasaur also released some pollen from its bulb, coating it in a paralysing substance.

Missingno finally seemed to stop, and lay suspended by Bulbasaur's vines. Slowly, the land based Pokemon surrounded Missingno as best they could, watching carefully.
"Is that it?" Green asked, partially surprised, partially disappointed. Were status effects all it took to defeat it?
Red looked at Missingno suspiciously. From what he had observed, this thing just took a ton of beatings until it decided to counter, and didn't react to anything. Red wasn't even sure if it was paralysed.

Suddenly, the top of Missingno glowed a slight red. Bulbasaur blinked in surprise, unsure of what was happening. A second later, it was covered in the fires of FlameThrower.
With a loud screeching cry, Bulbasaur threw Missingno and rolled on the ground, instantly defeated. Red's heart skipped a beat as he saw his Pokemon fall.
"Exxegutor, Sleep Powder!" Green ordered. It seemed that the monster hadn't been affected by the Stun Spore, so they needed to try something else. The Exxegutor doused pollen over Missingno, who made no effort to avoid it.

To everyone's surprise, Missingno dropped into the water momentarily, as if it really had fallen asleep. It continued to sink further to the ocean floor, and Red took this chance to fly back to the island and check on his Bulbasaur.
Pikachu leapt onto Charizard's head as Red hopped off of Charizard and knelt beside his Pokemon. He saw it was badly burned. It lay panting weakly, its body darkened slightly by the flames.
"I'm sorry, Bulbasaur... I messed up again, didn't I?" Red said, his head lowered as his eyes stung from the tears threatening to flow. The injured Pokemon tried to protest, but could barely move.

Lance flew over to Red, inspecting the damage himself. He fished around in his pouch until he found one of his few remaining Full Restores.
"Red, try this!" Lance yelled, throwing the medicine at him. Red looked up and clumsily caught it.
"All right, I hope this'll do you..." Red muttered, spraying the medicine on his Pokemon.

Green, meanwhile, kept watching the waters. He didn't like how Missingno had sunk. It seemed too easy, given how much trouble it had caused.
Their victory won't come that easily. Mewtwo noted from his position on the rock. Mew nodded in agreement, scanning the water's surface for any sign of the highly destructive monster.
The Water Pokemon situated in the sea swam under to search. They scanned the area where Missingno had sunk, but could find no trace of it. It was like it had disappeared completely.

It's right there. Mewtwo commented, looking above them. High up in the air, Missingno floated. It must have teleported once it sank. It was like this thing had intelligent thoughts, even though neither he nor Mew could detect any brain waves at all.
Lance scanned the sea, noticing the Pokemon couldn't seem to find the creature. Had it sunk so far down already? That couldn't be right...
You humans are so pathetically blind. Mewtwo taunted the three trainers, startling them.

The clone stood upright, looking at Missingno. Placing his two hands to his right, he began charging a dark mass of energy, and unleashed his Shadow Ball technique at Missingno.
Everyone watched its trajectory, realising where Missingno currently was. Missingno itself done nothing as the attack flew closer. Eventually, the pixellated mass was struck. Aside from being knocked back a little, it done nothing except begin to glow.

"Crap, now what's it doing?!" Green muttered, shielding his eyes as he gazed at the monster.
Red watched the monster for a second before concluding, "Watch out! It's using SolarBeam!" Red yelled at Green, he was the most likely target.
Barely a second later, Missingno fired a blast of solar energy towards Green, who just managed to avoid the attack with Pidgeot's high speed.
Missingno kept firing more blasts of energy towards Green and Pidgeot, who could only avoid the onslaught of SolarBeam's. The Pokemon in the water had to manoeuvre away from the areas where the blasts struck the sea, causing many waves to strike at the island's shoreline.

Red and the land based Pokemon moved further back, while Lance and Dragonite flew off to assist Green.
Knowing that there was a limit to how many Hyper Beam's his Pokemon could fire before being to tired to continue, Lance ordered his next best thing:
"Everyone, Dragon Rage!" Lance yelled, pointing at Missingno. All of Lance's Pokemon began charging energy within their mouth, and eventually fired a stream of yellow and purple fire towards Missingno.
Barraged by five attacks at once, Missingno stopped its assault on Green. When the flames finally died off, it slowly revolved in place, apparently to face Lance.

"Don't think so!" Red yelled. He had already mounted Charizard and flew towards Missingno at high speed, with Pikachu clutching Charizard's neck to prevent itself falling off.
Red's current strategy was to prevent Missingno attacking by mounting their own offence. It seemed like Missingno didn't attack until they had finished, and moved in for a devastating counter. For now, all they could do was hope Missingno's energy depleted before they could no longer attack.
"Charizard, FlameThrower!" Red yelled, and Charizard blasted a stream of fire at Missingno, coating it in searing flames.

"Okay Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Red directed, and Pikachu leaped into the air, and discharged a large amount of electricity from its cheeks. After it had struck Missingno, it began falling towards the sea, however Charizard glided underneath the small Pokemon and Red caught it in its descent.
"Don't let them outdo us Pidgeot!" Green yelled, not wanting Red to steal all the fun. "Try a Quick Attack!"
Pidgeot let out a loud cry as it sped towards the glitched creature and hit it with powerful tackle before moving back.

Mew and his cloned counterpart watched the three trainers attacking the monster with their various attacks. It seemed so futile to Mewtwo. Their weak attacks only delayed Missingno's assault. Even his amazing strength done nothing to harm it. What were weak, domesticated Pokemon supposed to do?
Mew caught Mewtwo's train of thought, and let out a little giggle.

    What?
"Muu muu." Was the reply. 'Nothing'.
Mewtwo glared at Mew, but said - or thought - nothing further. It wasn't important anyway. He was nearly ready to battle again. In a few moments, he would give another attempt at beating the monstrosity before them.
On the island, the Pokemon stuck on land watched anxiously as their trainers and friends battled on. They hated being based in a place where they could do nothing. They wished something would happen that would allow them to fight.

A misplaced wish, because soon others made themselves known to the group. The Pokemon turned upon sensing a presence approaching from behind, and saw several glitched Pokemon and a few trainers marching towards them.
Bulbasaur recognised one of the pixellly trainers from the Pokemon Centre. The one who used Dugtrio. He, Nurse Joy and at least two more trainers advanced with several glitchy messes of Pokemon. Among them were a Fearow, a Chansey and a Raticate. the rest were whatever remained of the inhabitants of the abandoned building and whatever Pokemon the Trainers had.

At the same time, the Pokemon in the water faced several more minions of Missingno. Several Seel, Dewgong, Shellder and Magikarp eventually congregated and surrounded the water based Pokemon. The trainers were too preoccupied with Missingno to notice the threats on two separate fronts yet.
