Welcome to the PokéCommunity! New Users / Welcome is a board completely dedicated to new members. Here, you're free to introduce yourself to other members, talk with your fellow newbies, and even ask a few questions – just don't go too overboard, we have Community Questions and Feedback for this purpose. Chances are if you're viewing this thread, you're either new to this place or you wanna learn what's appropriate when welcoming members who are. Either way, good show! Listed below are some guidelines all members should be aware of when posting here in New Users / Welcome:

    [a id]a[/a id]

    Guidelines for thread posting

    Posting an introduction (new topic):

→This board is for introductions and reintroductions only
Just a reminder that this board is for introductions and reintroductions only. If you've got questions, you're more than welcome to post them over in Community Questions and Feedback. As for any other type of thread, please seek out a more appropriate board. For example, a thread asking for battles would belong in The Battle Stadium.

→Do not make a thread if you've been an active member for two months (and have accumulated posts)
If you've been a member for two months or more and have accumulated quite a few posts, there's really no reason for you to create an introduction. Chances are, you've already introduced yourself in other ways anyhow. The point of these threads if for other members to get to know you, after all.

→Do not post a "leaving" thread
If for any reason you want to let people know you will no longer be logging on to our community, please do so in the Leaves of Absence thread. New Users / Welcome is supposed to highlight new beginnings, so we ask you to please refrain from creating a new thread. Please remember, all PC rules apply here, and if your leaving post contains any profanity or anything else unpleasant, it will be deleted at the discrepancy of the staff – no exceptions.

    Posting a reintroduction:

→Do not create a thread if you have posted within the last thirty days
If you've only been gone for a few days, or even a couple weeks, there's really no need to announce your return in the form of an entire thread. People come and go all the time, and this would just lead to a lot of needless clutter. Do feel free to announce your return in the Leaves of Absence thread, however.

→Do not create an alternate account and make a thread pretending to be new
All members are entitled to make as many accounts as they please, but pretending to be anyone new for any reason, something we call "sock-puppeting," is against the community rules. We can check IP addresses, and we do it frequently.

→Do not create a thread if you're switching to your alternate account
This has become a problem since we've disabled name changing. If you do decide to be more active with an alternate account, then please do not announce it in New Users / Welcome. You can use places like your signature or user title to accomplish this.

→Do not make a thread if you are returning from a ban
If you've been banned for any reason or for any given amount of time, you are not entitled to a reintroduction thread here in New Users / Welcome. Even if you've been gone over the thirty day minimum due to said banning, you are still prohibited from creating a thread.

    Guidelines for welcoming

    →Follow all PokéCommunity Rules
This should kinda go without saying, but all of the General PokéCommunity Rules apply here, as well as everywhere else you post here at PC. Just make sure you're aware of them, as every community does differ in what is and is not acceptable.

→Do not copy and paste your posts
Doing this is just plain rude to our new members, and there's no reasoning behind it. I understand that you may want to get your post count up for whatever reason, but this certainly isn't the way to go about it. Make each welcome as unique as you can, we want our new members to return!

    →Please read the introductions
It'd be great if more people welcomed new members, but posting simple "Welcome to PC!" posts over and over again is a little rude. Basically, just be courteous and make sure the new member can tell you actually read their introduction.

    →Silently Report threads/posts instead of posting in-thread (Mini-modding)
If you see another member breaking the rules in any way, please use the little
    report.gif
button to report it to a member of the PC staff. We really appreciate that you want to help out the community, however, posting in a thread where rule-breaking is occurring does nothing but cause more problems. Also, don't be intimidated to report things. Unless you're blatantly spamming our inbox with reports, you'll never be punished for a "wrong" report. It's best to play it on the safe side and report anything you find fishy.

    →Do not revive threads
Even if you're the thread creator, do not post in a thread that hasn't received replies for thirty days. Once it reaches this point of inactivity, it's considered dead, and reviving it by replying would do nothing but create more spam. If you've been gone for over thirty days and you want to let people know, simply make a new thread.

    Helpful Links!

Below you will find links to some of the most commonly asked about threads or areas here at the PokéCommunity. Just remember, each individual board has its own set of guidelines. Before you post in one of these threads, be certain you're aware of them. For a more extensive list of popular threads of interest, please direct your attention to the official PokéCommunity Links Resource. If you have a suggestion for this list, or happen to come across a problem accessing them, please let me know:

    The New User's Hangout

Since PC is a pretty large and intimidating place to be new in, we've dedicated an entire thread just for you new members! Here [link], you can be greeted by other, more veteran members of our community, as well as get a few questions answered. It's actually the ideal place to start out if you're lookin' for a way to break the ice. Haha, but before ya pay a visit to our one-stop-shop here, I do wanna let you know that we encourage all new members to post their own individual introduction! It's soooo much more personal this way!

Confused? If ya want more information on this thread, then please do read the first post! I do believe Drew sums it up a lot better than I can! XD

    Leaves of Absence Thread

The Leaves of Absence Thread [link] is a dedicated thread to you members who plan on being away from our little community for an extended period of time, returning from a lengthy departure, or wanna tell everyone that you're moving on... Hope that's not many of you! No sense in sending countless messages to all your friends when you can quickly inform everyone you know that you'll be takin' a leave in one simple post. Please, make sure you use this thread versus creating your own thread.

Also, please refrain from posting anything obscene or rude in this thread. I understand that many people get angry and have a strong urge to post their feelings as a final note. While your opinions are certainly yours to share, your post will be deleted if it is found to break any of PC's rules. This applies to every member of the community, young or old.
