Pokemon: Shadows of Justice
A Steampunk RPG
Rating: PG-13

The SU Thread can be found here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=243701
Please refer to it for information on your Character and Pokemon.

SUs are closed!! All spots have been filled!!
The RP will begin once our last two participants have completed their SUs.

Participants:
-Trent Asahoshi (Kay11190)
-Lily Rosemary Taylor (Star Girl)
-Wynn Shellstone (Neiko Star)
-Vyke Yiro (Hunter Zero)
-Melody Bennett (Archipelago)
-Kelly Jo Kooker (Wailmerz Forever)

Plot:

The region of Unova: A lush and exotic place nearly untouched by any other region in the Pokemon World. Unlike the other regions around the world, Unova does not run on electricity, but steam power. It's a region of gears, coal, fire, and airships. It is here that the tale of our young heroes and heroines begin.

It has been nearly three years since the eradication of the misguided Team Plasma and their leader, Ghetsis. Since then, Unova and its people have lived in peace. However, recently, rumors and sightings of a familiar green-haired boy have caused the citizens of Unova to be unsettled. Some have said that the boy has been seen riding atop the legendary Pokemon Zekrom. Others say he's been flying around Unova on the legendary Reshiram. Whatever the case may be, it has captured the attention of the Unova League.

Electricity is a power that Unova has not yet tapped into. They believe that it is a force not to reckoned with because the legendary Dragon, Zekrom, controls electricity and is told to be a very cold creature. Instead, Unova uses the power of steam and fire, in honor of Reshiram, who is seen as a beacon of light. Transportation through Unova is by steam train or airship, but there are no cars and certainly no airplanes.

But, that isn't your concern...at least, not yet. For now, your main concern is meeting with Professor Juniper to collect your starter Pokemon and set out on your journey to conquer the eight gyms of Unova. Are you ready?

Rules:

1. You must abide by all PokeCommunity rules and guidelines.
2. This RP is rated PG-13 for mild sexual situations, violence and some profanity.

Fused the two characters of the rps I was in, if you don't mind that.

Name: Trent Asahoshi
Age: 16
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Trent is a rather plain looking boy for someone his age, with only a few distinctive features. He stands at about 5'8 inches making him about decent height when compare to his peers. His eyes being one of his better features are a silver grey, a color found most commonly on fish scales. His gaze portrays the happiness and calm of his personality, and can be very fierce when provoked by a foe. Trent's hair is a silky black and is rather long for a male. His hair is worn in a pretty interesting manner; the hair at the top of his head is normally spiky and runs of in many directions. As you move toward the back of his head his hair seems to be combed down several inches until it starts into a ponytail. The ponytail falls down to around the bottom of his shoulder blades and is kept together by a gray bandage wrap. When worn without the wrap however Trent's hair is very wild and pretty hard to manage, at least for him. Moving to his face, it again is pretty plain, though it is soft to the touch and he has a small red rectangular marking that runs from his left mid-cheek diagonally off of his face.

Trent's build is also pretty average minus his strong legs. His Torso and arms aren't very muscular and neither are they flimsy. His clothes however seem to make up for his plain look by adding some personality to him. Starting from his feet he wears a pair of dark brown boot that almost look black. The bottoms of his boots are steel plated, the plating also running up the front of the boot to above his toes. The plating is also around the rim of the boots but the coating is very slim allowing him to actually put the boots on. His pants are kaki in color and are also pretty baggy, making movement for him relatively easy. Not to mention that it's very comfortable to him. The short sleeve shirt he wears is a short sleeve turtleneck made out of a light cream colored fabric that keeps him cool. The neck on the shirt is very loose, making it kind of ruffled, never really touching his neck. Over his shirt he wears a long button down pale gray vest jacket. It falls to about a quarter ways down his thighs the shoulder rims on the jacket are a light faded green color. The inside of his jacket has two special strips that can hold pokeballs on it though he can use his red belt for that. He often will be found wearing his jacket open to reveal the silver pokeball insignia on his shirt.

Personality:
Trent is a very simple person. He is very intelligent loving to study up on pokemon when he has the time. One of his goals is to be a great breeder, which helps push him to learn what he can about pokemon. He is a very caring person and shows compation towards any who need it. He has a very laid back approach toward everything knowing that it will come, only if you pace yourself properly. This leads him to seem a tad lazy to most but it's simply his lax attitude showing. In regards to battling with his pokemon he is quite serious and his ingenuity shines bright. His tactics and uses of attacks in battle make him a force to be reckoned with. The final note about Trent's personality is that he can come off as rather odd at times, as he some of his antics tend to draw attention to him.

History:
Trent comes from a regular middle class family in Accumala city with no real problems. Growing up he wasn't asked to do much, just simply to do well in school. Trent however didn't do very well in that area as his interests were more so into pokemon and skateboarding. As time would progress Trent's parents became stricter not only trying to correct his failing school grades, but protect him from the rising team Rocket threat. The more they pushed him, the more Trent wanted to become a trainer. Due to this Trent's grades began to plummet even further. Trying to escape the pressures of his home Trent turned to skateboarding as a form of stress relief.

It took him a couple of years to but after many sessions he became a rather decent boarder. He didn't attempt too many tricks but those he knew were practical and could be done on most terrains. Trent often found himself boarding to nearby clearings and just staring up at the sky. If he wasn't doing that he would just watch wild pokemon scamper about waiting for the day he could get his own. When he turned 13, Trent asked his parents if it was okay if he set off on a journey to raise pokemon. Their obvious answer was a no. They much rather see their son excelling in school and books than possibly get himself killed traveling. Also they figured with his mentality he may just give up on it and come back a failure. Putting up with his parent's discouraging words Trent whipped up the strength to leave his home and start his adventure despite their wishes. He was determined to come back an accomplished trainer.

Still working on character sheet. Wondering if I could reserve Axew's spot until I finish it tomorrow.

Name: Lily Rosemary Taylor

Gender: Female

Age:16

Physical Appearance: Having stopped growing at 4'11 Lily may be on the short side but she isn't what one would call petite. But she isn't exactly heavy either, running having kept her from getting to heavy growing up. She has very little arm muscle having always had issues developing muscle in that part of her body for an unknown reason even to her. What she lacks in her arms she makes up in her strong legs which can propel her at a fairly quick pace over a long distance. She has miscellaneous scars because she can be a klutz sometimes. She has straight long brown hair usually kept in a high ponytail with light gray eyes.

Most of the time she prefers to wear t-shirts and jeans along with a nice pair of running shoes. The shirts are usually something to deal with her two biggest hobbies books and running. Being a runner for fun she has accumulated many race t-shirts over the years. When forced to dress formal she goes for some form of flat shoes along with a formal top and skirt.

Personality: Lily is usually described by her friends as a firecracker. Usually calm and quiet until something sets the teen off. And when set off it is best to get out of her way since she tends to be extremely scary and sometimes violent. Thankfully a violent reaction is rare requiring an extreme amount of pushing her buttons. Though it can happen suddenly if you do something that makes her extremely angry like burning books. If caught doing so it is best to run for the hills because Lily takes this very, very bad.

When not on the wrong side of Lily's personality she is actually a calm and caring person. She tends to make friends easily but trust is a little less forth coming and has to be earned. Friendly to a certain extent she usually is a voice of reason and is willing to listen to almost anyone unless they do something on her 'no-no' list.

History: Lily, interestingly enough is not a native of Unova. She is actually a citizen of Hoenn by birth having been born in Rustboro City. She hasn't been back in her home country though for over 12 years having moved with her dad from there when she was four. She someday wishes to go back to her homeland but has no interest in doing so now with her only living parent and friends all residing in Unova.

Her mom passed away from an illness when she was four leaving her father to raise her. Having a new job offer and wanting to leave Hoenn behind them her father packed up their things and moved basically to the farthest place he could think of, Castellia City in Unova. Her father has yet to remarry and she has basically grown up the last few years without a form of a mother figure. Leading her to have more of a tomboyish style of things. Preferring more guy centered things over the girly things most girls favor at her age.

Starter Pokemon: Axew

Nickname: Eragon

Gender: Female

Level: 5

Nature: Sassy

Moveset: Scratch, Leer, Dragon Rage

RP Sample: Lily stood there arms crossed glaring at the flier that was attached to the billboard. Today was supposed to have"W been the day she was finally been the day she signed up for the one foot race she had been dreaming of participating for since she became obsessed with running. She almost jumped a foot in the air when her father came up from behind here and asked, "Well what does it say?"

"They've moved the age requirement up by two years. You now have to be the minimum age of 18!" Lily said turning to face her father.

"Well at least they didn't put in a minimum height requirement," her dad said jokingly.

"Haha, very funny dad," Lily said rolling her eyes at her father's shot at her short stature before continuing, "But seriously why did they pick this year to put the new rules in? This was the year I was going to finally compete in the famed Unova Half-Marathon and then they suddenly upped the age requirement."

"Well, look at it this way. You can now contact Professor Juniper and tell her you'll be there on the 18th to pick up your starter Pokemon," her dad replied ruffling her brown hair.

"Yeah I guess," Lily said sighing before turning away from the billboard.

"And you will have more time to train now. Maybe you'll actually finish somewhat decently with all the training you will have between hopscotching around Unova and fighting trainers," her father replied encouragingly.

"It was never about where I finished you know that. It was about the experience of running 21 kilometers without stopping," Lily said pulling on the edge of the of her old hemmed running shirt absentmindedly. Though, as she thought to herself, she would never admit unless in a life or death situation she had always wanted to walk away with one of those fancy medals. The issue having always been was her stature worked against her she wasn't thin or tall she didn't have the typical racer's physique but that had never stopped her from running in any foot race she could find.

Name: Wynn Shellstone

Age: 16

Physical Appearance: Wynn has dark, dirty blonde hair that she used to pull back into a ponytail. A curtain of hair hangs in front of her left eye, hidden because she is nearly blind in it. As people often remarked upon the resemblance between her hairstyle and the Hoenn Gym Leader Flannery's (ignoring the fact that her hair did not stick out like poles in four directions), she has flipped her hair up with large green clips. Wynn's eyes are of an olive green, though her left one is slightly lighter in color.

Wynn is of medium height, with slim, scrawny limbs and pale skin. She wears a dark olive green jacket (with a hood lined with thick, tan-colored fluff and eight pockets) over a yellow T-shirt emblazoned with a swirl of green fire. Her jeans are periwinkle blue, with a lot of pockets, both in the front and in the back. A pouch hangs from her side, fixed on the dark brown belt she has strapped to her waist. She wears a black watch on her left wrist. Wynn fears the cold, so she wears her jacket at all times, along with black fingerless gloves and a green scarf that she ties around her waist when she isn't wearing it. More often than not, she is seen with a lollipop in her mouth.

Personality: Wynn's trademark phrase is 'just in case'. She is crazy prepared for any eventuality. Her many, many pockets (and pouch) are stacked with just about anything you would need in an emergency or a not-so-emergency. She's quite organized, and stresses a lot when she is caught in a situation without all her equipment.

As mentioned before, Wynn loathes the cold (and therefore, winter). One might then question why she wears fingerless gloves instead of normal ones, as would be most logical. The thing is, among the five senses, the one Wynn privileges the most is the sense of touch, which is quite unusual. Her fingers are extremely sensible and she is very touchy about the texture of things, including her food (which is one reason she absolutely hates sparkles). She likes to think of herself as an artist, and is often torn between style and practicality, though she tries to balance both, as seen by her outfit…though her success would depend on your point of view. And as much as she likes style, she dislikes things like earrings or piercings which, in her honest opinion, serve no purpose except maybe increasing your chances of getting frostbite.

Wynn is very frank in her opinions and can be very blunt (sometimes painfully, sometimes hilariously, sometimes both). One of her biggest pet peeves is people who state the obvious.

History: Truthfully, Wynn never intended to be a Trainer. Her relationship with her parents was awkward and she found them quite distant. She lived for the majority of the year with her grandparents at their Pokemon ranch, out in the countryside, where she developed a passion for breeding. At 14, she moved permanently into the 'big city', that is to say, downtown, though she still returned to the ranch during school holidays. At first, the contrast was upsetting and she found that the city was completely different in every way from the countryside she knew: big, loud, bustling with people and activity, and, most of all, cold. It was difficult for her to adapt. The steely buildings and concrete sidewalks, the thousands of people who lived in one place without knowing each other…there was, however, one familiar thing that comforted her: the steam train. She had ridden it before, from her grandparents' ranch to the suburbs where her parents had lived, and she had watched the crimson serpent snake its way across the plains countless times.

With time, she came to appreciate the city with all that it offered. She went to a Pokemon school (a Training school, unfortunately; there were no breeding schools around her area and her parents couldn't be bothered) and graduated. She liked the fact that even in the city, Pokemon were everywhere, from the bird Pokemon nesting on roofs or pecking at seeds thrown to them by children on the sidewalks to numerous different kinds of Pokemon popularly kept as pets. After graduation, Wynn had stalled around for a bit, trying to find something to do, before realizing that there was nothing she wanted to do that didn't involve Pokemon. Of course, the easiest way to become an official, licensed Trainer was to meet Professor Juniper. So that's what she decided to do. She has been packing for the past three days.

Starter Pokemon: Tepig

Nickname: Ares

Gender: Male

Level: 5

Nature: Adamant

Moveset: Tackle, Tail Whip, Fire Oath

RP Sample: (I don't have any, since it's been a while since I last role-played, but I'll just write some stuff down.)

Wynn breathed in the familiar scent of greenery and straw. It's good to be back, she thought, making her way to the front porch. The Miltank looked up as she passed and some of them mooed in recognition. As she arrived in front of the wooden door, she gave a sharp tug on the string hanging from the wind chimes. They sang with a high, trickling voice as they swayed from side to side. The door flew open and she found herself face to face with her grandmother.

"Wynn!" She was positively beaming. "Oh, you know you don't need to ring the bell, you can just come straight in! How's my sweetheart doing?"

She pecked Wynn twice on each cheek. Wynn gave a small smile. "I'm fine, Grandma."

Her grandmother stepped back and ushered her into the house. "Come in, come in…you really have grown…I think you're an inch taller than you were the last time I saw you. "

"No, not really…"

Her grandfather's voice came from the basement. "Is that Wynn I hear? So she's back already?"
Wynn heard heavy footsteps as her grandpa's head poked out of the doorway.

"Well, I'll be, it really is Wynn! How are you? You could've waited at the station, your grandma and I would've picked you up."

"I'm already fifteen," Wynn fake-protested. "I can make it from the station to here by myself."

Her grandpa laughed. "Welcome home, Wynn."

Wynn smiled. "It's good to be home."

Alright this sounds fun let's rock baby!

Name: Vyke Yiro

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Appearance: Vyke is an odd looking fellow. Snow white short hair that sometimes covers his eyes. His hair stops at the end of his neck and covers his ears. Vyke is about 5'8 to 5'9 no one can really tell it seems to change each time someone or himself checks. His eyes, which he gets complemented on for being pretty are a light blue. Strangely enough his eyes have sometimes shined in the light of the stars or if the sun shines on them. His eyes have been said to look a disgusting mix of dark black and green and he looks like as if all the emotions of happiness, joy and love and been drained from him and all there is left is sorrow. On his face which is a set off for most people is a large painful looking scar on his face across his nose from one side to another. The scar now that it's healed is the same color of his skin. Speaking of which Vyke has somewhat tan skin from being outside in the sun a lot but sometimes it can look pale white. His hair sometimes is swayed to the right and sometimes his bangs go over his eyes.

Vyke is a pretty muscular guy but his body doesn't seem to show that. At first glance Vike is just a scrawny kid who probably can't do much and use to get picked on for that until he showed off his strength. He is actually pretty strong and has a muscular body compared to most people who view themselves as strong and can do things other people cannot. Vyke doesn't really care for appearance but wears his favorite colors red and black. Starting with black sneakers with a red strip going down where his ankle is on both shoes. He wears jet black jeans that look like skinny jeans but they really aren't. He wears a black belt with a skull belt buckle and the mouth of the skull opens. A jet black T-shirt under a blood red coat sometimes he has the sleeves rolled up but most of the time not. Vyke also loves to wear a pair of black fingerless gloves.

Personality: Oh boy did you really ask me this well here we go. Vyke in a nutshell can be described as cocky, laid back, egotistical, annoying and overall a nuisance. Vike loves to mouth off to adults and crack jokes and the most inappropriate times. He can be very laid back and calm in dangerous or tough situations. Vyke can be very quiet and not talk much if when he's tired or feels the people he's around are not worth talking too. He never shows fear and has a strong sense of justice and hates people who commit crime. Vike loves to get into fights with people and can figure out someones insecurities just by looking at them for a brief moment. He likes to boast about things like he better at doing things than other people and can back up what he says. If he says he can beat you at a race or game you will probably lose. Vyke can also be very mean and harsh to people at times. Vyke can sometimes steal peoples "thunder" or just ruin a moment for people. He also loves to get on peoples nerves and make them very angry it's all a game to him really.

Despite all of these thing Vyke can be the nicest person on earth to some people if he knows them and likes there company. He can be the friend that's always there for you in a troubling situation. Vyke is he opens up to you will cherish the friendship he has made. Vyke is also naturally good at pretty much any physical activity and sometimes will show off to people who think they're the best.

History: Vyke grew up with his father and mother in Nuvema Town. His father was a pokemon trainer from Kanto and his mother is a pokemon doctor from Unova. His father and mother met when his father had just came out of a pokemon battle when he visited the Unova region. His pokemon were badly injured from an intense fight with team plasma long before they were eradicated. The two fell in love and Vyke's father moved to Unova and married Vyke's mother. The two then moved to Nuvema Town they felt it was an excellent place to start a family. Unfortunately before Vyke was born his father had vanished due to some problem with team plasma. Before then his parents taught Vyke everything they knew about training and caring for pokemon. Vyke believes that his father is still alive and wanted to search for him but he was only ten at the time and his mother said he wasn't ready to start a pokemon journey yet. For the next four years his mother taught him more things and got him prepared for his journey. One day when Vyke was fourteen his mother was killed in some kind of situation dealing with a green haired boy. Enraged Vyke blamed team plasma and vowed if he ever found that boy the kill him. Vyke's next door neighbor a man named Gil took Vyke in when his mother passed and raised him like as if he was his own.

Vyke for the next two years prepared to go on a pokemon journey to become a great pokemon trainer for his father and find the green haired boy for his mother. Nothing was going to stand in his way of becoming the best pokemon trainer ever and winning the Unova league. So next stop Professor Juniper's

- Battle a Wild Pokemon. Capturing is up to you.
-Pass through Accumula Town.
-Engage in a Trainer Battle.
-Battle Team Plasma Grunt:

Prologue
Kelli Jo watched as waves hit the beach. Her newly acquired Scraggy, whom she named Tyler, and she had been a little shy.Well, not everyone's perfect, Kelli thought as Tyler ran around the beach, trying to get away from everyone. But there were people everywhere, and she knew all of them. So, to keep herself from being embarrassed any longer, she scooped up Tyler under her arm, left the beach, and went home to say goodbye. "Mom, Dad, meet your daughter's new Pokemon!" she yelled up the stairs. But let's not dwell on this. Her parents were surprised she didn't get a Tynamo, they said love you and bye, and then Kelli left for Route 1.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter One: Maybe We Should've Quit Before We Started...
Kelli Jo and Tyler walked along the beaten path that so many other people and Pokemon must've walked. They saw people battling, swimming, riding Pokemon, treading both land and water, and playing in the grass. Tyler just wanted to stay away, though. "Tyler," Kelli said, "if you don't try, you're not going to get any stronger. And you know that." She stared into the eyes of her newly found partner. She could tell Tyler wanted to, but was just too scared. "If you face your fears once, it's over and you're rid of it. But if you run away from it you'll be stuck with it. Which do you want?" Her Pokemon stared back, weighing her options. And, after a few silent moments, she put on a brave face and her biggest smile(which was pretty big, considering its normal size)and marched off into the grass. Kelli followed, a smile on her face as well. They walked around a few minutes, then a Lillipup ran up to Tyler, looking for a playmate. But in her "I can accomplish anything" state, Tyler mistook it for an offer to battle. "Oh, Tyler! He only wants to--" but she had already done it.
Tyler aimed the kick at the Lillipup's ankles. And she knocked him clean off his paws and flat on his back, legs straight in the air. But then he jumped up, a look of rage in his eyes. "Tyler, I think you've made a formidable opponent!" she called to the Scraggy, behind a chuckle, and flipped through her PokePedia while the two Pokemon hit, missed and dodged. After she found what she was looking for, Kelli Jo called out to Tyler, "Use Sand Attack, then Leer!" She followed orders and, within a few moments, the Lillipup was throwing blind Tackles. The Scraggy jumped in for another blow, but the wild Pokemon heard the rustling grass and jumped out of the way at the last moment. Then he jumped forward with a Tackle, knocking Tyler down. But that was what she wanted. She glanced at Kelli, and her trainer saw the look in her eye. One that she hadn't seen before; a look of determination. So the Scraggy waited till the Lillipup got close, and then she swept him off his feet with another Low Kick. She jumped up, put her foot on the belly of the Lillipup, and looked down at him. Kelli Jo put the PokePedia away, got out an Apricorn Ball, and dropped it on the dog-like Pokemon. There was a flash of red, three shakes and a POOF! He wasn't going down like this.
Tyler wasn't ready for this. She was pushed down by the Lillipup but, as he jumped up, preparing for a Tackle, she rolled out of the way and Low Kicked him when he got within range on Kelli's command, doubling his impact on the ground. He was really dazed after that, and Tyler kept her distance this time. Kelli Jo threw the Apricorn Ball this second time, and after the three shakes, there was a...
@Wailmerz Rule: Please, for future reference, don't say the Pokemon was caught, it doesn't help your chances.
@ Spikey-Eared Pichu: Sorry, didn't mean for that to be there. And now...
Day 1, Chapter Two: What a Wonderful Battle it Was!
CLICK. With that noise came a rush of joy for Kelli Jo Kooker as the confirmation had backed up her suspicion; she had caught the Lillipup. "Okay, Lillipup, out!" With a flash of white and a bark, out was the Lillipup, not so happy to be there. He didn't think that this was part of the deal--he had only wanted someone to play with. Tyler marched over, feeling as good as ever that she had just helped catch a new Pokemon, and chittered to the Lillipup, and it seemed like an apology. But the Lillipup was just as reluctant as before, actually turning away from them. "Alright, then...Ruff, Tyler, let's go!" At "Ruff," the Lillipup, who was now to be referred to as Ruff, turned, seeming the tiniest bit less reluctant.
The three walked along through the grass, sniffing the flowers, breathing in the air. They took the time because Kelli knew that Ruff would appreciate it, having an extended amount of time at home, because they probably weren't going to be back here for a really long time. He played and rolled around in the grass, relishing that fact. Tyler tried to play with him, but every time she got close, he just got up and walked away. Every once in a while, Kelli saw the big, weird eyes of a Patrat glaring at her. She got the feeling that it was the same one, over and over. "Ruff, Tyler, pick up the pace. We're being followed," she said, and Tyler did as told, but Ruff ran back towards where the Patrat was now. He plopped down next to it and wouldn't move. "Ruff! Get over here!" Kelli yelled. But he just shook his head and stayed. "Ugh. Do I have to do everything myself?" She stomped over to where Ruff and the Patrat were waiting, and as soon as Kelli got there, Ruff jumped up and ran in front of her. He turned around and put a smile on his face as the Patrat stood up and made a chomping motion. "Oh," said Kelli, "so you were waiting here so that you and your little friend could battle, weren't you?" He nodded and barked, wanting to get on with it. "Well, then, let the battle begin!" she yelled, just as Tyler showed up from inside the trees.
Kelli Jo got out her PokePedia and flipped through the pages one by one. "Snivy, Servine, Serperior, Tepig, Pignite, Emboar, Oshawott, Dewott, Samurott, Patrat! Here we go! Says here that on Route 1, they should be levels 2 to 4, and this one looks strong, so it should know Tackle and Leer. Ruff, Leer!" Ruff stared at the Patrat, cold, sharp and hard.
"Pat...rat..." The Patrat backed away, looking scared, and it tried to run in with a Tackle, but it was just too scared. "Alright, Ruff, Tackle!" Ruff sped towards the Patrat, and the next thing they both knew, the Patrat was being pushed, feet off the ground, into a tree by Ruff.
"Pup! Pup!" he yelled triumphantly, thinking that the battle was over. But the Patrat got up and did something far worse than stare. Its eyes glowed a strange ruby color, with an underlying goldenrod shimmer. Ruff cowered under the light, and Kelli realized that this was Leer. "Ruff! Come on, this just seems more intimidating because of the glow! Come on, use Tackle!" But Ruff only stood there, not cowering now, just staring at the glow. Kelli found herself fighting the urge to keep staring, and she seilded Tyler's eyes. "Scrag, Scrag!" she screamed, trying to pry off her hand, but Kelli's grip was tight. She knew that if you looked too deep into that light, you would end up like Ruff--a mindless zombie.
The Patrat saw his chance and slammed into Ruff, just as the light faded and he snapped out of the trance. He landed flat on his back, his paws in the air. He wasn't unconscious, but he wold be soon. "Ruff! Get over here and let Tyler take care of the Patrat," she said. It was directed at both of her Pokemon, and, because of Tyler scrambling to get out of Kelli's grasp, when she let go, the Scraggy flew over towards the Patrat and at the last moment transitioned into a Low Kick-slide, knocking the Patrat off his feet and propelling Tyler into a tree. She hurt herself, but she didn't fall to unconsciousness yet. And when Tyler looked back and Ruff peeked out from behind Kelli's back, there was a Patrat lying down on the grass, eyes closed, teeth stiff. Kelli knew this game. It was playing dead. "Alright, it's fainted. we can go now," she said. She fed an Oran Berry to Ruff and let Tyler hang from her neck. "Oh, and Ruff?" The Puppy Pokemon looked up, a newfound respect and admiration for Kelli apparent in his expression. "Tackle," and after that word, the Patrat didn't have to play dead, because it was unconscious from the impact of the Tackle Ruff brought. "Oh, I love battling!" Kelli Jo exclaimed as Ruff rejoined Tyler and her and they walked along the dirt path to Accumula Town, the buildings looming over their heads. "This is only the beginning," Kelli muttered to herself as they entered the city.
"Vyke!" A voice shouted to the deep in sleep Vyke who was snoring laying in his bed. "Listen if you don't wake up now you'll never make those plans of yours come true," The voice said. "I'm up!" Vyke shouted as he quickly and sluggishly sat up in his bed. His hair looked like a tumble weed and he looked dopey. "Get ready," A man with orange eyes, black short hair said as he opened up the blinds to the room letting in bright sunlight. "Awww man Gil cut me a break and give me five more minutes," Vyke complained laying back down. "Get up!" Gil shouted as he pulled Vyke's blanket from under him causing him to spin in the air and fall off face first into the floor board. "Oww," Vyke sighed as he got up. "Now get dressed mister "I'm going to change Unova"," Gil said pulling out a backpack and Vyke's favorite clothes "You bet I'm going to change this god forsaken land from the dark ages," Vyke began. "The rest of the world uses electricity but we don't and because we fear Zekrom I'll be the first one to dare challenge that pokemon so we can finally be at peace and use more advance tech," He said as he started changes out of his pajamas and into his favorite clothes. "Even if you somehow manage to face Zekrom what do you plan to do?" Gil asked as he handed Vyke his favorite skull belt buckled belt. "Easy Gil, capture Zekrom," Vyke said as he but the belt on and opened the mouth of the metallic skull buckle. "No trainer in the history of Unova has ever captured a legendary pokemon or even face one besides that green haired boy," Gil said "That green haired boy will pay for what he did to my mother and besides rumors says he controls Reshiram but, if he does control Zekrom I'll beat him in a battle and prove I'm the better trainer trust me Gil I swear by my name I will beat the Unova pokemon league, beat the green haired boy, capture Zekrom and bring new and advance tech to this land just like the others," Vyke said as he finished putting on his jet black shirt. "Looks like your dressed, I packed something in your bag like food and a sleeping bag and some extra clothes but give up on that Zekrom stuff it's a wild goose chase," Gil said tossing the black backpack at Vyke. "Thanks Gil for everything you're probably right about Zekrom if all else fails I'll find a way," Vyke said as he caught the backpack placed it on the ground and put on his black fingerless gloves and shoes. "Might as well get going!" He exclaimed as he put on his blood red coat and put the backpack on. "Your hair," Gil said. "Oh yeah that's right," Vyke said as he quickly turned his head to the right and his hair fixed itself. One of his bangs swayed to the left making an X with his scar. "Looking sharp kid," Gil said jokingly. "Looking better than you," Vyke replied smirking.
"Alright kid no time to be smart go and head over to Professor Juniper's lab to get your starter pokemon," Gil said. "Alright Gil I'll catch you later when I'm a pokemon trainer master!" Vyke said as he ran out of his room and downstairs. "Vyke remember make me and your mom proud," Gil began. "Make a difference," He said as Vyke ran out the door of the house. "I promise Gil and too you mom that I'll become the best and take on that green haired boy and any obstacles in my way and face Zekrom so we can use electricity safely even though the chances are staked against me I'll try my hardest," Vyke thought as he ran toward the lab. As Vyke reached the lab he noticed other trainers that had already gotten their pokemon and items so he somewhat walked hastily into the lab. "Hello Professor Juniper how's it going?" Vyke said as he strolled in the lab. "Hello if it isn't Nuvema Town's own Vyke ready to start your journey are you," Professor Juniper said. Vyke had meet Professor Juniper once before but really didn't talk to her much. "Yeah I'm here to get my starter pokemon," Vyke replied. "Alright here we go just for you," Professor Juniper said as she gathered somethings out of Vyke's sight. "First five apricorn balls three oran and pecha berries, one escape rope, a pokepedia, trainer card and an adventure log," She said handing Vyke all those things. "Thanks but what's an apricorn ball?" He asked. "Most regions enough not all use pokeballs," Vyke added. "Well because we do not use electricity we used a type of fruit it is used the same way as a pokeball," Professor Juniper said. "Phft when my plans come into play we'll be using pokeballs," Vyke said under his breath. "Ok..." Professor Juniper said giving Vyke an confused look. "Well anyway here's you starter pokemon's apricorn ball," She added giving Vyke the ball. "Thanks Professor I'm off now to start my Journey expect to hear great things of me," Vyke said flashing the Professor the two finger peace sign as he walked off. "What a strange kid maybe he might be something to watch," Professor Juniper thought as Vyke left the door.
"Alright pokemon go!" Vyke said as he tossed the ball in the air. The ball just went up and then plopped right back into his hand. "What the..." Vyke said aloud as he stood in front of the lab door staring at his apricorn ball. Then suddenly it opened and a green snake pokemon appeared. "Whoa!" Vyke said as he put the ball away and pulled out his pokepedia and looked for the snake pokemon standing before him. "So you're a Snivy a grass type pokemon," Vyke said to the Snivy who wasn't paying him any mind. "Hello my name is Vyke," Vyke said as he crouched down smiling toward his new pokemon. "Snivy," The pokemon said putting its hand out. "Hey let me nickname you how about Zet?" Vyke said shaking the Snivy's hand. "Sni," Zet said agreeing to the name. "Alright then Zet shall we get going," Vyke said as Zet jumped on his shoulder and the two stared walking. As the two walked they noticed all the other trainers with their pokemon doing their own things. Feeling energetic Vyke felt that he should make his presence known, so he ran to the fence that was near him and jumped on it. "My name is Vyke Yiro and I'm letting you all know that I'm going to be the best trainer ever so watch out don't get in my way!" He shouted. People for a moment all just stared at him with questioning looks. "Well Zet let's hit the road on the double," Vyke said as he started running still on the fence. Vyke took in the scenery as he ran on top of the fence. He saw bird pokemon flying through the air, other pokemon playing in the grass. People enjoying their lives it made Vyke happy on the inside to see this joy. As the two reached the end of the fence it was the beginning of route 1 so Vyke jumped down and started walking the route.
"Well Zet what kind of pokemon do you think we'll run into?" Vyke asked as he was looking through the pokepedia. "Maybe a Lilipup," Vyke said "Sni," Zet said as he was relaxing on Vyke's shoulder not really caring what Vyke was saying. "Hey pay attention!" Vyke shouted startling Zet causing him to fall off Vyke's shoulder. "Geez man," Vyke groaned as Zet got back up. "Lilipup!" A voice barked off in the distance as a dog looking pokemon jumped out of the tall grass nearby. "Hey look Zet a Lilipup get ready for battle it must have heard you fall off," Vyke said as Zet got into a battle stance. "So if I remember correctly the pokepedia read something about knowing tackle, leer and grass oath but I'm not sure," Vyke said as the Lilipup and Zet had a staring contest. "Try using grass oath!" Vyke commanded. "Snivy!" Zet growled as columns of grass appeared and blew around the Lilipup causing it to stagger back. "Lilipup!" The Lilipup roared as he charged at Zet. "Sni!" Zet moaned as the Lilipup tackled him. "It used tackle now use tackle back!" Vyke ordered. Zet then jumped back at the Lilipup head first hitting it. "Lili!" It groaned as it rolled across the ground. "Now finish this up with another grass oath!" Vyke commanded. "Vy" Zet roared as grass columns appeared and blew into the Lilipup again send it flying back. "Hey it looks like we won!" Vyke said as he started jumping around as the Lilipup was unable to battle anymore. The two keep walking before they stopped in front of a tree not far from Accumula Town. "Hey Zet let's take a rest up in this tree looks like if anyone wants to get to Accumula Town has to pass this tree maybe we'll get a glance at the competition," Vyke said as Zet jumped on his shoulder and he climbed up a tree sat on a large thick branch with his legs stretched out. "Now we wait," Vyke said his hands behind his head one eyes closed and the other looking out for people.
Day One - Part One: Getting to grips
And so, the first day of the trip began. Melody's first experience of travelling with Pokemon was not exactly a smooth one, and she severely lacked experience in the matter, something most others of her age were near enough masters of. However, there was no-one in Celestic town who could recite almost all legends of Sinnoh and the surrounding areas off by heart like she could. A somewhat useless skill at the moment, but you never know. Someone might burst out of the trees with a Skuntank and force her to either tell him about Arceus or hand over all of her money. Then she would be useful. There was of course one tiny blip in her plan. There were no Skuntank in Unova, at least not any wild ones, which would mean some criminal would have a different Pokemon, one which was unknown to Melody. However, she wasn't completely defenceless, as she too had an ally in which before the events of today, Melody had never heard of. In all honesty, the seventeen year old had been looking forward to something more familiar. She had hoped for a Budew, or a Cleffa, or even a Geodude. They were simple, and somewhat common. Instead, Melody was standing in the middle of a completely bemusing town known as Nuvema with an equally odd Pokemon. It was tiny, shorter than her knees, and it was covered in a thick white down. While it was certainly the strangest Pokemon that Melody had ever seen – even surpassing Ditto – it was as cute as any teddy bear, unless of course it was an actually Teddiursa. They weren't even native to Sinnoh, but Melody could remember pestering her day to get her one. She was seven then, meaning that that was a whole decade ago. Oh, how time flies when you're doing nothing but learning about things that people weren't entirely sure happened. Oh well, Melody had faith that they did. The idea of Palkia and Dialga really was an amazing once. Still, that didn't change the fact that deep in the region of Unova, things were different than they were in Sinnoh. No electricity, instead preferring to power things on steam. That was the first thing Melody had learnt about the Unova mythology. Coal-power was used to honour the Pokemon Reshiram, which had only really appeared in legend. And now of course, Melody's first job was to get to Route 1, which would be the first stepping stone of many. Armed with little more than a tiny Oshawott, she knew what she had to do.
"Well Seph, you ready to go?" asked Melody, glancing at the tiny otter creature which sat beside her, which was gently picking at the grass, waiting for something to happen.
The Water-type nodded eagerly, before near enough leaping forward to take the lead. From what Melody had worked out, Persephony the Oshawott was the not the most sensible of Pokemon, and enjoyed practical jokes. If anything, that was a good thing. Melody was used to dealing with Pokemon like that. If she had chosen a somewhat between behaved Pokemon, things would just be far too different. Still, the two of them left the city, realising that there was little of interest tp be found her other than the lab, and the trip there was over. For today at least. The woman there, Professor. Juniper was a truly nice woman. She had given Melody a bag to hold her stuff, along with a few Pokeballs, supplies and plenty of money to spend at that. This was a much better send-off than it had been back in Celestic town on Melody's first try as a Pokemon, which consisted of little more than a hug from everyone she knew. Melody almost instinctively pulled the bag over her shoulder and placed in on the ground, soon followed by her kneeling down to inspect what was exactly inside. Soon enough, she pulled out the PokePedia. It looked somewhat reminiscent of the Pokedex back in Sinnoh, and much to her surprise, it worked much the same too.
Oshawott; the Sea Otter Pokemon,
Water type,
It fights using the sword shell on its belly. It stops and attack only to reel off another one without delay
Known moves; Tackle, Growl, Water Oath
Melody raised an eyebrow. "Well, I kinda guessed that you were a water type," she muttered.
Never the less, the two paced forward. Melody's longer strides meant she could keep moving at a faster rate, but Sephy was doing rather well alternating between a run and a walk. It looked rather funny from Melody's perspective, and she couldn't help but chuckle slightly as the Water-type tried to keep up. Already this was going better than the first time Melody had tried to travel across a region. At this point she had already been attacked by three Scyther. Three very, very angry Scyther which could not be held off only by a Ditto whose extent of battle experience was battling Magikarp at the local pond. At least Persephony seemed more eager to fight, while Robin back home would much prefer to just mess around. Still, that was a rather fun thing to do, and it passed the time. And quite luckily, even these few thoughts of home had managed to wear away at the minutes, and now both Melody and Persephony were outside of Nuvema, and their short stay there had come to an end. But now was the next part of the trip, and the first few steps along Unova's route 1. The adventure had finally begun.
===
The two had spent a good fifteen minutes simply sitting in the grass on the route and waiting to see what would happen. The two had no idea what they were meant to do at this point other than move forward into the next town, but Melody would have thought something would have happened by now, so they decided to wait in case they ended up missing something. The two sat eating some food which Melody had brought along, and had swiftly stuck in the bag with everything else she had. Proof that she's not entirely impractical. Sephy was gnawing away at a cheese sandwich, while Melody was eating one slightly more gracefully, but it was clear that she was indeed hungry. But the view of the beach was much more mesmerising. The closest beach to Celestic town was up north slightly, but that was both blocked by the mountain range and a little too far north for it to be warm. Here, the weather was rather pleasurable, and almost felt like new hope. Melody was about to take another bite of her sandwich, but her hand was empty. Where had it-?
"Patrat!"
Melody spun around, searching for the source of the sound. A tiny rodent like creature was quite clearly running from the scene, using all four of its tiny legs to move faster. What really annoyed Melody though, was the fact that it had stolen her sandwich. Seph nodded twice, knowing exactly what to do. Melody grinned as a reply. This was going to be her first real Pokemon battle whilst travelling. She had done it before, sure, but this was going to be some real practice in a real situation. Perfect.
Melody thought back to the PokePedia's words. "Sephy, hit it with Tackle!" she yelled. She did know Tackle, didn't she?
Luckily, Seph did. The Otter Pokemon bounded forward, using its surprising speed to outmatch the Patrat's and then slamming into it, knocking the Normal-type of its feet, and into a tree. Melody quickly ran over to the scene as best she could, before the Normal-type clambered back onto its feet. It discarded the sandwich (as now it was little more than a few scraps), and then growled somewhat viciously. Seph had made it angry. That was a good thing, it might make mistakes. It flung itself at Sephy, quite clearly countering with its own Tackle, but the Otter Pokemon casually side-stepped it, and then Persephony smashed into the Patrat. Melody frowned slightly.
"Seph, I'm supposed to give the orders!" The Pokemon in question gave a sigh. "Um... try Water Oath?"
The Water-type raised a non-existent eyebrow, but the expression was still there. Still, Seph began to focus on the Patrat, although quite what she was doing was difficult to tell. Soon enough though, the move itself was revealed. The water along the shore line began to ripple and shake, before a thin pillar erupted from it, readying to smash into the Patrat. However, the Lookout Pokemon was prepared. Resuming an almost feral stance, its eyes began to flash a variety of colours. It was distracting to say the least. Seph concentration on the ocean dropped, leaving her open for an attack. Patrat moved quickly, slamming itself into the Otter and knocking Seph back into Melody. Luckily, Melody broke the fall, as the two of them stumbled over backwards. Melody winced slightly, but Seph was quickly back onto her feet, ready for another attack. And right then, Melody had a plan.
She smiled. "Okay Seph, use Water Oath again." The same process began, and the Patrat used Leer once more. Melody was prepared though. "Now switch into Tackle!"
The Patrat had not prepared for that. Seph stumbled onto all four legs and bounded forward, smashing herself against the Patrat. An equal amount of damage was given to each Pokemon, but the Lookout Pokemon was already on lower health, meaning that Melody had the upper hand. Placing her hand inside the bag in which she carried, she fumbled around for an item. Soon she pulled her hand out, holding a fresh Apricorn ball.
Seph nodded. "Osha, osha!" she exclaimed, although Melody couldn't tell whether it was from excitement of a new team mate, or to complain that she didn't want one.
"Wish me luck," Melody muttered, as she threw the Pokéball.
It flew through the air at a surprising speed. It wasn't nearly as heavy as Melody first though it was going to be. It came in contact with the Patrat, and the Pokemon was enveloped in a scarlet light. But now was the decider. Would it become a new ally, or would it escape and try to run?
Note: Yes I realize right now Eragon's personality seems to be more lazy ass that will change as the story progresses. She is Sassy by nature and unless you have earned her respect prior she tends to be the type to not really want to hang out with you. As Lily earns her respect that will change though.
Lily paused for a second as she walked out the lab pokeball containing her partner in one hand and the strap of her backpack in the other. 'Hmmm, where did that other kid go,' she wondered absentmindedly. She had arrived in town from her trek from her house in Crestalia City earlier that morning heading straight to the lab. She had only seen one other trainer from the group of six she was supposed to play a part of and had been wondering if the other girl had wanted to travel together. However the other girl had disappeared off to somewhere after acquiring her Scraggy before Lily got to ask.
'Ah well, at least I have Eragon for company,' Lily thought to herself holding up the Apricorn Ball containing her starter in the air releasing the Axew. 'Might as well get used to hanging out with her considering how long of this journey will be,' Jasmine thought to herself as the small tusk Pokemon appeared before her.
The Axew she had dubbed Eragon glanced around a bit before spying her and started to stare at her Lily rubbed the back of her head for a second before saying, "Well, um, hi there Axew, I'm Lily your new trainer. I gave you the nickname of Eragon if that's okay."
The Pokemon turned her head for a second seeming to contemplate it for a second before seeming to shrugging her shoulders and nodding her head. Lily grinned for a second before saying, "Well then it's pleasure to meet you Eragon and I hope we have a fantastic journey together."
"Xew," Eragon replied seeming to glance away, Lily sighed quietly taking that as a 'yeah, sure.'
"Well I guess we should find a Pokemon or maybe a trainer to battle," Lily said scratching the back of her head as she looked around the surrounding area for something to do. Wandering towards the edge of town Eragon following her with some reluctance.
"Now lets see what would be a good first fight," Lily said absent mindely tapping her chin glancing around. She stopped as she spotted a Lillypup wandering in front of the path and grinned. Turning to Eragon she said, "All right Eragon it's show time. I want you to attack that Lillipup over there with a Dragon Rage attack okay?"
Eragon just muttered a "Xew." but none the less charged the Lillipup Lily had been motioning at. Having the advantage of a surprise attack Eragon landed the Dragon Rage easily. The Lillipup slid for a few feet before scrambling to it's feet and leering the Axew who was all ready moving in the Lillipup's direction landing a Scratch attack she had not commanded on the Lillipup.
"Eragon I didn't say to do that-" Lily sighed as she saw Eragon land another scratch attack after being hit from a Tackle from the Lillipup. "Eragon-" Lily started before she saw Eragon was starting to power up another Dragon Rage and did the first thing that came to her, "Eragon if you don't start listening to me I have no quams about boxing you in the next town we get to."
A startled "Xew?!" came from the small Axew turning to stare at her only to be hit by another tackle from the Lillipup looking startled and hurt Lily sighed before continuing, "Never mind will discuss this later one more Dragon Rage ought to due the trick."
"Xew," Eragon said nodding her head turning back to Lillipup who was currently trying to leer down the small dragon. Eragon powered up another Dragon Rage successfully knocking the Lillipup down. Lily at this finally unattached one of her empty Apricorn Balls from her belt throwing it at the Lillipup and watched as it disappeared into the ball and the wait began to see if she successfully caught her first Pokemon.
@Archipelago: Just a note, but they're Apricorn Balls. PokeBalls don't exist in Unova due to the lack of electrical power. Also, the PokePedia is actually a book ^_^...anywho,
Melody caught a Patrat!
He had done it. After years of waiting Trent Asahoshi was finally a pokemon trainer. However, as he stared down at the apricorn ball containing his new pokemon, he felt somewhat sad. He knew his parents would be furious that he had stopped school and started raising pokemon. Having to pass through his town would not make his situation any easier, especially if he were to run into them. "Oh well." Trent said with a sigh. The boy stood up brushing the dirt from his pants and once again found himself staring at the apricorn ball. He didn't even know what pokemon was inside, since he asked Professor Juniper to give him whichever she thought was best. "Let's see what you are shall we." Trent threw the ball into the air and with a flash of red light a small pokemon appeared. It was a small white tadpole looking creature with yellow zigzag markings on its side. "Tya" cried the pokemon as it hovered over toward Trent smiling. "You're pretty cute." Trent said lifting the pokemon into his arms. "How about we name you Zero?" "Tya, Tya." The pokemon whined approvingly. "Well I guess we should get this trip started then shall we." The two continued down Route one toward Trent's home city Accumula Town.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After about an hour of travel Trent could see the familiar building of Accumula Town. "Look Zero that's the town where I used to live. You'll get to see some of the fun places I used to fun out." The eel pokemon let out hovered around his legs excitedly as if it looked forward to seeing the town. "Hey what's that sound" Trent inquired as he searched for the source of the sound. His Tyanamo had stopped just as suddenly as Trent heard the sound. "Tya, Tyanamo." The eel pokemon was gesturing toward a shaking patch of grass. Trent slowly creeped over to the patch of tall grass to peer into it, when a seemingly overexcited pokemon popped out. "Audino!" exclaimed the pokemon its face inches away from Trent's. The boy stumbled backwards, surprised that a wild pokemon had gotten so close. Then again he had never encountered a wild pokemon by himself before so this was a bit different for him. Quickly Trent pulled out his pokepedia and flipped through it until he found the pokemon that stood before him.

"An Audino, huh. Your abilities seem cool too. It would great to have a healer on the team." Trent closed the book and shoved it back into his bag. "Zero it's time for a battle. We can't let a pokemon like this get away." Zero hovered in front of Trent and faced its chubby opponent ready to fight. "Alright let's start things out with a tackle attack!" The eel pokemon dashed forward and threw its body into the stomach of the Audino, pushing it back several inches. The normal type pokemon looked a little confused as if it was wondering why Tyanamo had attacked it.

"Looks like it's a bit sturdier than I expected. Zero use thunder wave to slow it down a bit." Tyanamo then took a deep breath and began to let emit yellow waves charged with electricity from its body. The Audino walked over toward the eel pokemon in an attempt to figure out what it was doing. Before the cheery pokemon could get close enough it stopped motionless and stared at the eel. "Yes it's paralyzed!" Trent said excitedly jumping into the air. "Before it has time to react hit it with a charge beam." Sparks of electricity started flicker around Tyanamo as it began to store the power needed for its attack. It s target however was once again walking over toward it now with an upset look on its face. Putting both of its hands together the pokemon forcefully slammed its fists onto the eels head causing it to hit the ground. After the attack however the normal type had another confused look. Trent could tell them some sort of inner conflict was going on in the pokemon but he couldn't tell what.

"Zero try to hit it with a spark followed by a charge beam." "Tya" cried the pokemon as it got up. The electric type then took in additional electricity than it had already stored and took off. The eel pokemon jumped into the air hitting the normal type at the top of its stomach, transferring a good amount of electricity into it. The recoil from the hit bounced Tyanamo a couple feet into the air giving it enough range to shoot its charge beam. The pokemon then let out a blast of electricity knocking the already stumbling pokemon off of its feet. "Time to try my luck." Trent reached into his bag and pulled out a spare apricorn ball and threw it at the Audino hoping for a capture.

@Kay11190: Hmm, getting a little gutsy to try for such a rare Pokemon so early on there. I'm gonna make you work a bit for this one:

The Apricorn Ball quivered to and fro for a second before releasing the Audino! The Pokemon let out an angry cry before charging at Zero with a Pound attack! "Aaaaaaudino!!"
