An Ephemeral Memorandum
A Collection of Poems and Short Stories
This thread will hold within it some poems and short stories I've created. A few of these were made years ago, back when I was much younger and far less... logical, I suppose. You can also read my on-going novella, Euindale, if you'd like! c:
Enjoy ~
In the Darkness
A Day
As the wind blew, I listened,
For the blowing wind whistled,
The river, glowing, glistened,
The birds sang, nestled.
The sky a bright white,
I beheld a rare sight,
Blue, no longer the light,
Soon replaced by night.
The sun fell from the sky,
In to the mountains, high.
Rain replaced the dry,
Falling, never shy.
The moon lay covered,
By clouds that devoured,
Above a flower that flowered,
As time moved forward.
The rain concluded, ceased,
The clouds vanished, pleased,
The sun rose from the east,
Life, once again, released.

Spoiler: In the Darkness
In the Darkness
In the darkness,
Unless a moonless sky,
The stars shiver,
A howl echoes, a cry,
In the darkness.
The wind grew cold,
The breeze grew bold.
They approach,
In the darkness.
One by one,
The stars fall to the ground,
Their light stolen.
And in the darkness,
There was no sound.
Fear their approach,
Fear their empty souls.
Fear the creatures,
The creatures,
In the darkness.
Unless a moonless sky,
The stars shiver,
A howl echoes, a cry,
In the darkness.
The wind grew cold,
The breeze grew bold.
They approach,
In the darkness.
One by one,
The stars fall to the ground,
Their light stolen.
And in the darkness,
There was no sound.
Fear their approach,
Fear their empty souls.
Fear the creatures,
The creatures,
In the darkness.
Spoiler: Destiny
Destiny
At the end of the road,
At the end of their hope,
At the edge of their destiny,
They turned away.
The precipice was nothing,
Nothing they hadn't faced before.
They weren't finished,
They needed more.
Looking out into the stars,
They saw little to fill their souls.
This end they found,
Was riddled with holes.
Their true journey, they realised,
Was yet to be found.
At the edge of their destiny,
They turned away.
At the end of their hope,
At the edge of their destiny,
They turned away.
The precipice was nothing,
Nothing they hadn't faced before.
They weren't finished,
They needed more.

Spoiler: Euindale: The Battle of the Stars
Euindale: The Battle of the Stars
The way the stars dance,
Upon the celestial skies.
The way the light shimmers,
Shimmers and then dies.
The darkness that creeps,
Like the a freezing gale, a slither.
That darkness consumes all,
The silence then comes thither.
Those stars that dance,
The stars themselves,
Waged war upon the darkness,
The darkness that delves.
The battle that ensued,
As brutal as it was long,
The Battle of the Stars,
Written into stone and song.
Where once there was life,
There was now void.
The darkness engulfed all,
All was devoid.
In the years that passed,
One light was born.
A light brilliant and bright,
A light of hope, adorn.
The light drove back the darkness,
Back to the void whence it came.
The stars rejoiced in joy and pride,
And thus began a time,
The Age of the Stars, its name.

Spoiler: Euindale: The Cave of Earthbound Starlight
Euindale: The Cave of Earthbound Starlight
Stars litter the roof,
Stars litter the roof,
Of the cave within the earth.
During nights and during days,
Stars illuminate without dearth.
The Books describe the cave,
The cave that seems to exist
Within the halls of the Stars themselves,
Where eternal light lies in its midst.
The Cave of Earthbound Starlight,
As the Books have named.
A link between the worlds,
For its majesty, it is famed.
A place of such brilliance and beauty,
Of such power and grace and allure,
Ever closer to the Stars above,
It is as they are, blissful and pure.
Spoiler: Grey Skies
Grey Skies
A gust of wind, howling, strong,
Sweeping the rain to the right, the left.
The trees bowed, their leaves quaking,
Bitter in it's coldness, warmth, bereft.
The clouds gathered, growling,
The rain fell, harsh against the sand,
It would wash away the life it once gave,
Launder away the land.
When the skies clear, and clouds disappear,
The strong Sun will once again show,
The tall trees will once again grow,
And life, devoid of strife, will once again flourish.
Such is the nature of the dreaded storm,
It gives and it takes, it lives and it dies,
It provides and deprives, forms and dissolves,
Deep within the heart of the gloomy grey skies.
A gust of wind, howling, strong,
Sweeping the rain to the right, the left.

Bitter in it's coldness, warmth, bereft.
