Hi all, this is the thread for the Live Tournaments and Live Trivia. I'll go over the point distributions and some basic information as well. First of all, it's important to note that the events will be held on the PokéCommunity Battle Server. These events will be hosted by me, gimmepie, and Castform/Ms. Jiggly. But do not worry, there will be no bias involved.

    Tournaments
Tournaments are a way for everyone to test their battling skills. But we can't expect everyone to have knowledge of team building and whatnot, so all the formats will be Random formats.

Again, Tournaments sessions will be held at the following times (all times in EST):
    • 26th - 5am, 1pm, 6pm
    • 27th - 12am, 5am, 1pm, 6pm, 11pm
    • 28th - 5am, 1pm, 5pm

There will be a maximum of 3 tournaments run per session, but do not expect them to be run evenly at xx:00, xx:20, and xx:40. They may be run one after the other, they may not be - it is up to the host of that session to decide. Signups will last approximately 5 minutes per tournament. The session host will post in #event-notification when the session begins, so make sure to stay tuned for that as well.

    Please note the following:
    - Tournaments are randomly generated, so seeding is random. You may end up fighting one of your teammates in the first round.
    - With an uneven (non power of 2) number of entrants, some players will get byes.
    - Hosts (aside from 5qwerty) are allowed to join the tournament and are eligible for points.

    Point distributions are as follows:
Participants get 5 points for each round that they win, 3 points for placing top 2, and 3 points for participating but not winning.

For example, if there are two entrants, the winner of the tournament will get 8 points and the loser will get 6 points. If there are 4 entrants, 1st place will get 13 points, 2nd place 8 points, and 3-4th get 3 points each.

Additional Rule: Losing to someone not in event in tournament will give you 3 points, plus 2 extra points for every round they win after.

    Trivia
Trivia is for everyone to test their knowledge, competitive or non-competitive.

Again, Trivia sessions will be held at the following times (all times EST):
    • 26th - 6am, 2pm, 7pm
    • 27th - 1am, 6am, 2pm, 7pm
    • 28th - 12am, 6am, 2pm, 6pm

There will be a maximum of 3 trivia games run per session, but do not expect them to be run evenly at xx:00, xx:20, and xx:40. They may be run one after the other, they may not be - it is up to the host of that session to decide. Signups will last approximately 5 minutes per game. The session host will post in #event-notification when the session begins, so make sure to stay tuned for that as well.

    Please note the following:
    - The format is Timer, which means that the faster you answer a question, the more points you get (in the Trivia game).
    - The total per game is 50 points.
    - Questions are random and may repeat.
    - All questions are Pokémon-related.
    - I may be adding more questions as the event goes on.

There are also certain commands and some tidbits you need to know to be able to play trivia (effectively), they are as follows:
    - Type /trivia join while a game is active to join.
    - Players can join any time while a game is active, even if some questions have been answered.
    - When a game is active, type /trivia to view the current status of the game.
    - When answering, use /ta [answer] to submit your answer. Obviously, replace [answer] with your actual answer.
    - Answers are case-insensitive and don't need to include spaces or punctuation.
    - Some questions specify a type of item (Berry, Plate, Badge, etc.). For these questions you do not need to specify the type of item in your answer. For example, if the question is "Which Berry heals a Pokémon for 10 HP?" then both "oran" and "oranberry" are acceptable answers.

    Point distributions are as follows:
First place in a game gets 10 points, 2nd place gets 7 points, and 3rd place gets 5 points. Participants with non-zero score will get 3 points.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Ok, new rule, since people not signed up for The Super Battle/Fun Event are joining in the tournaments:

Losing to someone not in event in tournament will give you 3 points, plus 2 extra points for every round they win after.
