Pokemon Master Quest Episode 61 "A Claim To Flame!"
Gary's back! And his voice is still awful
** The girl calling Jessie "old"
* Ursaring's swirly eyes
** Nice action scene.
Aww Pikachu sleeping looks really cute
** Nice emotional scene with Ash and Gary conversing, with good use of a moonlight atmosphere.
Closing Thoughts:
A mediocre start.
The story was mostly just some before-tournament house-keeping, though it did have some sweet moments between Ash and Gary.
Action was usually good, humor not so much. So overall, just a "eh" ep. 5.5/10.

Pokemon Master Quest Episode 62 "Love, Pokemon Style!" (this pun title again?)
** Ash's eyes becoming pupil-only
** Nice action scene, with good music in the background.
Nice look at Misty getting super-jealous at Macy's romantic advances. POKESHIPPING CONFIRMED!
And now we get Misty nervously denying being Ash's girlfriend.
* Kingler's swirly eyes
Woo, welcome back Ash's Squirtle.
** The action scenes are typically high quality.
* Slugma's swirly eyes
Quilava's voice is not the best.
* Phanphy's swirly eyes
* Totodile's swirly eyes
** More nice action scenes.
* Electabuzz's swirly eyes
** Haha, Squirtle flailing around.
* Quilava's swirly eyes.
Closing Thoughts:
A good battle episode.
As always, the emphasis was on the fight scenes, and in this regard it did quite well, as is the standard. It also had a funny twist at the end, with Squirtle falling on it's back and flailing around, some good facial expressions (gotta love the swirly eyes) and some entertaining shipping moments. 7.5/10.

Pokemon Master Quest Episode 63 "Tie One On!"
** Jackson falling
Huh Meganium's pronounced differently than I thought.
* The Squirtle's game.
* "Hey there mom, i'm on TV!"
I like how this episode has an Azumarill, they're cute!
** Good action scene.
* Azumarill's swirly eyes
* Pikachu's swirly eyes
** Cyndaquil's swirly eyes
** The action scenes are once again nice.
*** Very good climax to the battle! Very exciting, and a nice break from the Static Backgrounds.
Nice, Team Rocket didn't say their motto in this episode.
Closing Thoughts:
Another solid gym battle episode. The battle scenes were very good as always, especially the very exciting climax, and there was some good humor, and no Team Rocket intrusion. 7.5/10.

Pokemon Master Quest Episode 64 "The Ties That Bind!"
** Ash getting slapped by Magikarp.
* Ash vigorously shaking arm
--- Sigh Gary and Ash's irritating taunts during the fishing scene was really annoying.
I like how Ash is wearing a straw hat while fishing.
** Jessie's star eyes
** The entire scene with Ash trying and failing at online research
Neat, it's Ash's Charizard! So now all three Kanto starters are back. Cool.
** Charizard returning, and Ash's happy dance.
And now Oak and Delia are back, and look at that their together. Still don't think they're romantically involved tho.
Ha Jessie called James "James, dear" ROCKETSHIPPING!
** Machoke's swirly eyes
* Ha look at Pikachu waving a flag
* Tauros's swirly eyes
** The fight scenes are quite nice.
Closing Thoughts:
A good episode.
The story was quite good. The opening half of the episode was a nice change of pace from the constant battle scenes of the prior two episodes as well as being quite funny and entertaining (aside from the lame fishing scene though that had good moments too) and the battles themselves were quite nice as well. The episode also did a nice job showing the importance of the battle.
Action and humor were also as always good.
So this episode gets a 7.5/10.

Pokemon Master Quest Episode 65 "Can't Beat The Heat!"
** Heracross' swirly eyes
* Bayleef's swirly eyes
** The action scenes are very solid.
Aww Pikachu and Togepi look so cute waving their flags.
* Arcanine's swirly eyes
** Snorlax's large mouth
Does EVERY Pokemon need to say it's name? i don't get it.
** Snorlax's swirly eyes
Oh no Ash has only one Pokemon left. He's gonna lose
* Muk's swirly eyes
* Scizor's swirly eyes
*** The scene with Charizard+Golem was especially good.
* Golem's swirly eyes
Neat, Charizard burning the battlefield. That's a cool strategy.
*** The Charizard vs Blastoise battle is a very nice climax to the episode.
* Blastoise's swirly eyes.
** Nice emotional scene with Ash/Gary.
Closing Thoughts:
A cut above most gym battle episodes. The action scenes were more intense than usual, and especially near the end were very well-done. As well, there was a nice emotional ending, no Team Rocket intrustion, and more nice swirly eyes. So we have a winner. 8/10.

It's getting very near the end
The Beatles, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)"
Just two more episodes until we hit the last Original series ep!
Pokemon Master Quest Episode 66 "Playing With Fire!"
** Pikachu getting licked, and it's swirly eyes
** Kecleon's swirly eyes
** Good action scenes.
Aww the cool distortion on Sneasel's voice is gone.
* Pikachu's swirly eyes
I like Totodile's sweatdropping
** Sneasel and Totodile's swirly eyes
Ohnoes Snorlax has fallen asleep. This better not be a repeat of the Indigo League.
* I like Ash's sweatdropping, as well as Ash's optimistic reaction.
Man Dream Eater is a cool name for an attack.
** Hypno's wide eyes and Delia's sweatdropping
* Hypno's swirly eyes
** Noctowl's swirly eyes
** Steelix's swirly eyes
* Snorlax's swirly eyes
** More good battle scenes.
Why does Delia sound like she's crying?
* Houndoom's swirly eyes
"Out of the frying pan and into another fire Pokemon!" 10/10 pun
** Bayleef's swirly eyes
Closing Thoughts:
Not spectacular, but quite good. The fight scenes were quite solid, and they made effective use of visual tropes like sweatdrops/swirly eyes. Also once again, no unnessecary Team Rocket stuff. 7.5/10.

Here we go, the second-to-last Original ep (Not counting Hoenn Alone, sort of an interlude)
Pokemon Master Quest Episode 67 "Johto Photo Finish!"
** Very good fight scenes as always.
Aww man why did Blaziken have to get up? Ash had it in the bag!
*** Nice! The climax to this battle was really tense and well-done...
--- But sigh. Charizard gears up for a big attack, and then just collapses, just like that, causing Ash to lose! Once again, we get cheated out by the producers so the show can keep going.
* Charizard's swirly eyes
Sigh this episode falls apart after the battle.
** Houndoom's swirly eyes
** Rhydon's swirly eyes
** Team Rocket freaking out at the flame thrower.
* Fine action scene.
Sobs Goodbye Gary...I won't miss your annoying whiny voice though I will miss your weird haircut
Closing Thoughts:
Unfortunately, a mediocre episode.
It started out promising, with another solid gym battle. However, after the executive-mandated loss, the episode loses focus and becomes directionless, as well as sticking in an obligatory Team Rocket battle at the end.
The action was nice and there were funny bits, so it wasn't a total loss, but not above a 5/10.

It's the end of the world as we know it
And I feel fine

Michael Stipe of R.E.M, "The End Of The World As We Know It".
This is it. After 1 and a half years of watching and hundreds of eps, the time has come to see the final episode of the original series.
Pokemon Master Quest Episode 68 "Gotta Catch Ya Later!"
** Brock doing his thing was funny this time 'round instead of just annoying, thanks to the wacky animation.
Welcome back Misty's sisters, still as stereotypical valley-girl as ever.
* Misty's very wide eyes
Wow Misty's very sad about how she can never see Ash again. Possible Pokeshipping
** Good action scene.
* Ha I like Misty being a mom to Ash. "Don't forget your morning ritual. Take a bath, and brush your teeth".
Woah don't be creeps Brock/Misty.
*** The entire farewell of Ash/Misty/Brock, from the montage, to them walking down the windings roads and sharing goodbyes, to the lovely bit with them leaving in the sunset, to Ash sobbing (rare) was beeeyoutiful. The animation, dialogue, and such combined perfectly to create one of the most lovely bits in the show, almost movie-quality. I have no shame in admitting I got Misty (ha) eyes. Even the cheesy music in the background didn't ruin it. Well-done, guys. Goodbye, Misty and Brock, see ya in like a couple eps.
And then of course we get Brock holding a riceball and saying it's an onion. Classic 4K!DS.
Ash's obsession with Gary is showing again. Gets informed he's at the Pokemon Center and immediately bursts out of the door.
Wow it's Ho-Oh! cool.
*** Nice, the action scene with Ash climbing out of the pit was really intense, and his use of the forks/handkerchief was also creative and added emotional resonance.
** Good old Delia with the "change your underwear" gag.
Closing Thoughts:
An excellent farewell to Misty and Brock, and definitely a top 10 episode!
I was hoping for an episode like this to pack on the feels, and it really delivered. Throughout, the episode carried lots of emotional weight, but it was the middle part, with Ash and Misty and Brock giving their farewells, which ranks as a contender for the best scene of the show. The use of little touches like the return of Misty's bike, as well as Ash seeing Ho-Oh once again, were great, and gave a nice feeling of completion.
And as well, the final action scene, with Ash climbing out of the hole, was very intensely done, very creative, and emotional as well.
Of course, this really should've been the final episode with Ash, it was a perfect jumping off point for a new protagonist, but of course they had to have him come back for the money. But with an episode this good, why should I complain? 9/10.

It's time for a new start, as I dive into Pokemon Advanced Generation!
Pokemon Advanced Generation Episode 1 "Hoenn Alone!"
Aww Pikachu looks so cute in the opening scenes of this episode, sunbathing, swimming, and sleeping cuddled up near Ash
-- Sigh not another Team Rocket steal Pokemon caper
** Good action scene though.
* Some nice wacky expressions.
Nice the episode's lifting above a generic Team Rocket ep.
I like Meowth and Pikachu's interactions.
* "What's with the fisticuffs!"
** Pikachu falling over
*** Woo this final action scene is really intense!
Oh no Pikachu is sick! Poor Pika.
Closing Thoughts:
A good start to the season.
The story was a cut above most Team Rocket capers by focusing instead on Pikachu and Meowth and a dispute with other Pokemon, and it was quite entertaining.
The action scenes were also particularly good, especially the final one. Humor wasn't that strong though.
Overall, 7.5/10.

Time to meet May!
Pokemon Advanced Generation Episode 2 "Get The Show On The Road!"
** May's blank white eyes
May's voice is decent. Misty's was better
-- The new theme song is pretty bad
* Ha Mudkip
** Good and funny chase scene
*** I love the high stakes of this episode! Pikachu might explode? The fact his behavior is also altered (he bites Ash) makes it also more high stakes and interesting
* Aww Pikachu licking Ash's wound
** Very solid action scene with nice direction
** AWW Pikachu nuzzling Ash's cheek
Huh May wanting a lot to go with Ash is structured quite romantically...
Closing Thoughts:
A very good introduction to May.
The story was very intriguing and high-stakes, with Pikachu getting an electricity buildup that leaves him gravely ill, acting strangely, and nearly explodes! Quite fun to watch, the direction as well was spot on.
The action scenes weren't really a focus, but the humor was very good with lots of expressive animation.
Overall, an 8/10.

Pokemon Advanced Generation Episode 3 "A Ruin With A View!"
I like how expressive the animation is in this season so far.
-- But I don't like the new Pokedex voice
** Torchic's swirly eyes
** The entire scene of May trying to catch Azurill was quite funny.
* More Torchic swirly eyes
Huh the guy at the ruins looks a lot like Brock...
I like Persian sleeping by Giovanni.
* Team Rocket's wide eyes
** Haha Pikachu's eating ketchup
Team Magma grunt has good voice.
-- not really a good action scene.
Closing Thoughts:
A decent episode.
The story was quite intriguing. It started out slow, but picked up, with an interesting premise about Team Magma trying to find their way into a series of ancient ruins, which allegedly house ancient Pokemon. I like when the more Mythical aspecits are brought to the fore, and this was no exception.
The jokes were quite good, action wasn't too tops but hey. 7/10.

And i'm back. I left the forum last year for...reasons. I posted more reviews on Safari Zone but that forum shut down. I've continued watching Pokemon and am now on DP.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Episode 40: "Top-Down Training"
This was a pretty mediocre episode. The first half had a good battle between Paul and Cynthia, and like most battles in the show it was exciting throughout, but there wasn't really much redeeming through the rest of the episode. The rest was just mostly Paul and Ash arguing about training, Cynthia lecturing them, and a formulaic Team Rocket steal Pokemon plot near the end. So overall, I can only give it a 6/10.
