INT. TEAM ROCKET HQ GIOVANNI'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Giovanni sits encased in shadow

the rocket trio stand feet from him staring intensely waiting for him to respond

he sits forward clenching his fists trying to keep some control his eyes almost bulging with rage

they quickly look down at the floor not daring to look him in the eyes

GIOVANNI
I've had enough of you incompetent fools get out while you still have the chance

Jessie and meowth slowly step back frightened of what he'll do

James suddenly rushes towards him taking them by surprise leaning over his desk at him

Giovanni quickly recovers

JAMES
please you got to give us another chance

GIOVANNI turns towards Jessie thinking she glances at him before diverting her eyes bewildered

GIOVANNI
one more chance

EXT. TEAM ROCKET HQ - NIGHT

the trio slowly make their way from the building still numb from shock

Jessie is the first to recover standing up straight

JESSIE
we'll just prove to him how worthy we can be

MEOWTH
(inspired)
yeah you right Jess we'll show the boss just what we made off

James
(not convinced)
I hope so this is our final chance

EXT/INT MARIA'S HOME HILDA'S ROOM - NIGHT

the emaciate home and garden bathe in the glorious moonlight

silhouette of young girl is visible through open window

she seems transfixed by something she turns towards the window poster behind her of a slightly older ash and Pikachu doing their pose

HILDA is a shy polite young girl

she stands straighter filling with determination

HILDA
I know I can do it
(deflating to self)
I hope

thinking she turns towards paused image of Pikachu fighting nidoking in big stadium

INT. stadium battlefield - night

nidoking charges towards Pikachu horn glowing

he stands his ground easily jumping back at last second

nidoking comes to a stop frustrated

Pikachu now leaps up his tail glowing and turning to steel swinging it at speed

hitting him hard to the head before nidoking can respond he drops to his knees struggling to try get to his feet

INT. Maria's home Hilda's room - night

Hilda stares at the TV in total wonderment as Pikachu leaps into ash's arms celebrating with him

narrator
as Hilda watches in amazement she can't help but think about what tomorrow holds because that's when she can choose her first Pokémon

Maria o.c
Hilda

she stumbles falling forward

NARRATOR
that's if she recovers in time

recovering she reluctantly turns to face her mum in doorway who gives her angry look

MARIA is a over protective loving but strict when she needs to be mum

Maria
have you got any idea what the time is

HILDA
late

MARIA
yes so why are you still up

HILDA
I to excited to sleep

Maria glances at the TV ash giving a interview with a female reporter

MARIA
(calming down)
then you should watch something educational

for the first since her mum came into the room she stands up straight defensive

HILDA
it is educational if it wasn't for ash I wouldn't be starting my journey

MARIA
I know but I your mother trust ne

Hilda eases up knowing she better drop it as her mum picks up remote that Hilda must have dropped turning over channel

prof. juniper is giving lecture on the three starter Pokémon pictured behind her

MARIA
when this is finished I want you in bed

HILDA
yes mum

she watches her mum leave the room sitting down on bed with a sigh

INT. MARIA'S HOME HILDA'S ROOM - DAY

Hilda lays fast asleep curled up blanket tossed to floor

Maria watches from doorway smiling amused

MARIA
I thought so

she strides over to the curtains opening them to let the sun light in

beam of light landing on Hilda's face she turns over trying to sleep still

Maria steps over to the bed gently shaking her nothing

slightly irritated she thinks for second picking up pillow from under her head flopping down on to the bed as she wakes

she slowly sits with a yawn stretching as she does so thinking she starts to worry

MARIA
(before Hilda can speak)
don't worry there's plenty of time to you have to leave

INT. Maria's home kitchen - day

Maria pokes at her scrambled eggs with her fork something weighing on her mind

going unnoticed by Hilda who is in world of her own

Maria takes a deep breath looking up at Hilda

MARIA
Hilda, Hilda

Hilda snaps out of it slightly dazed still

HILDA
yeah mum

MARIA
(blurting it out)
I not going with your to professor juniper's

HILDA
(can't believe it)
what do you mean you not going with me

MARIA
(calming her self down)
how can you go all the way to kanto on your own if you can't even go to professor juniper's

Hilda
(thinking)
maybe you right

INT. Maria's home living room - day

Hilda paces the room unable to control her nerves

Maria watches her closely from the sofa concerned

Hilda suddenly stops facing her mum

how do I decide what Pokémon to choose

MARIA
I sure once you their you'll know

she looks at her more intently realizing she's daydreaming

MARIA

INT. stadium battlefield - night - daydream

Hilda faces of against shadowed trainer and his Pikachu determined to do her best

tepig by her side he looks up at her dopey expression on it's face

Hilda
tepig flamethrower
(gives her look)

tepig unleashes powerful blast of fire from it's mouth slamming into Hilda who screams

as crowd laughs she shakes it off

HILDA

a cocky oshawatt forms in front of her

HILDA

he shakes his head

please oshawatt

it points at his feet laughing she shakes her head in disgust oshawatt points more firmly now

Hilda flinches as she leans down kissing his feet

Pikachu begins to laugh the shadowed trainer steps forward revealing his self to be ash

pathetic how can you call your self a trainer

tears start to form in her eyes

INT. MARIA'S HOME LIVING ROOM - DAY

Maria has her hand on Hilda's shoulder she starts to come around a bit dazed

HILDA

MARIA

HILDA
(trying to shake it all off)

ext. nuvema town street - day

a panicked Hilda pelts of down the road

bumping into someone she falls to the ground she gets to her feet turning her attention guiltily to BIANCA

BIANCA

she speeds of around corner as Hilda watches on bemused

EXT. prof. juniper's lab - day

prof. juniper patiently waits for Hilda's arrival

Hilda appears in shot charging towards a bemused prof. juniper

stopping panting trying to get her breath back

INT. prof. juniper's lab main lab -day

prof. juniper leads her over to cocky oshawatt flexing it's arms tepig releases small stream of fire from it's mouth

she backs of put off by them

she starts looking around thinking

HILDA
professor juniper isn't their meant to be a snivy

PROF. JUNIPER
(sighing)
right but I'm afraid she's painfully shy

spotting snivy hiding beside big machine

she slowly approaches her

frightened she backs up even further

as Hilda gets nearer she kneels giving snivy reassuring smile

it's all right I get you scared around others I use to be the same even now I still struggle

snivy slowly steps forward vine unwinds from her neck collar towards Hilda she flinches bracing her self

snivy wraps her vine around her hand realizing Hilda shakes it

HILDA

(smiling)

prof. juniper steps forward impressed

PROF. JUNIPER
looks like you to make a great team

HILDA

PROF. JUNIPER

INT. seaport lobby - day

Maria scans the room trying to spot her through the masses starting to get worried

spotting each other both smiling happy to see each other

MARIA
so how did it go

HILDA
you were right once I was their I just knew

MARIA
so you were listening

HILDA

MARIA
so who did you choose

HILDA
I'll show you

Hilda holds out poke ball it opens up energy coming from it snivy appearing

cowering she hides behind Hilda's legs

Maria instantly knowing what to do she kneels giving her reassuring smile

MARIA
it's all right I'm Hilda's mum and it's nice to meet you

snivy releases one of her vines from her neck collar wrapping it around Maria's hand she immediately shakes it

before slowly getting to her feet

announcer
attention please attention please the seaplane to kanto will be leaving shortly

Maria and Hilda knowingly stare at each other Hilda grabs her in hug getting teary eyed Maria trying to control her own emotions

Hilda breaks free

MARIA
what was that for

HILDA
for being the best mum ever

MARIA
(steadying her self)

HILDA

INT. seaplane - day

Hilda stares out the window trying to take it in as they speed over the ocean

she turns to snivy beside her

HILDA
isn't it exciting snivy

snivy nods

they turn their attention back to the window a flock of pidgey fly pass she can't believe how cute they are

she quickly picks up her rucksack searching through it she pulls out her pokeadex scanning them

pidgey the tiny bird Pokémon among all of the flying type Pokémon it's one of the easiest to capture perfect for the beginning trainer

she watches them disappear determined

ext. seaport seaplane - day

Hilda and snivy make their way from the plane trying to take it all in overwhelmed

HILDA
I can't believe I finally here

EXT. town market - day

Hilda makes her way through the crowded market trying to take it all in a nervy snivy by her side

HILDA
what do you think about camping out I know there's a Pokémon centre in this town but I never camped out before

SNIVY
(nods)

EXT. nearby forest Hilda's camp - night

Hilda and snivy are sat around camp fire admiring the stars

HILDA
this is amazing right

SNIVY

a weird noise disturbs them they get to their feet a teddiursa stumbles out from bush curious

Hilda can't believe how cute it is charging at it startling it she grabs it in hug

teddiursa struggles to get free realizing she lets go snivy looks on concerned

as teddiursa cries out

moments later angry group of ursring loom from out of the trees

Hilda starts backing away snivy protective stands in front of her

EXT. NEARBY FOREST ash's camp - NIGHT

ash and Pikachu are sat around the fire reminiscing

I can't believe how long it's been since we were last home

there's a sudden scream in distance they quickly get to their feet concerned running of in the direction of the scream

EXT. NEARBY FOREST HILDA'S CAMP - NIGHT

snivy lays on the ground motionless Hilda stands in front of her arms wide not backing down as the ursring get ready to strike

lightening bolt lands at their feet they all look around confused spotting ash and Pikachu

Pikachu ready to attack his cheeks letting of sparks

the ursring hesitate deciding to leave they retreat

ash and Pikachu rush forward Hilda's trying to take it all in

he gently picks snivy up Pikachu climbs on his shoulder

ash
we got to get snivy to a Pokémon centre now

with out another word he speeds of as quick as he can Hilda shakily follows

int. town Pokémon centre - night

ash bursts through the doors Hilda following nurse joy rushes out from behind desk

nurse joy
what happened

Hilda tries to speak but can't get the words out ash covers her

ash
snivy was attacked by a group of ursring

NURSE JOY
chansey I need a stretcher stat

two chansey burst through ER doors taking snivy of him they rush off nurse joy following Hilda goes to follow ash holds his hand out

ash
we'll have to wait in the waiting room

INT. TOWN POKEMON CENTER waiting room - NIGHT

Hilda paces the room tears pouring from her eyes ash and Pikachu look on concerned

ash
you didn't know that ursring would react like that

she stops trying to look him in the eyes

HILDA
first my dad died now snivy because of me

ash and Pikachu try to take it in

ASH
I sorry about you dad but snivy isn't your dad and I know nurse joy will do everything she can

Hilda
I'm scared when dad was ill I kept convincing myself he was going to pull through then he was gone in seconds

nurse joy steps out of side room they look up at her Hilda desperately hoping

NURSE JOY
snivy is in a pretty bad way

HILDA
but she's going to be all right

NURSE JOY
she should make a full recovery

HILDA
(thinking)
I should let my mum know will you come with me

ash
of course

INT. TOWN POKEMON CENTER reception area - NIGHT

Hilda is talking to her mum on video phone ash is staying back not wanting to intrude

HILDA
but ash saved us

ash steps forward awkward about it

ash
anyone would have done the same

MARIA
but they didn't so thank you ash

nurse joy approaches them not wanting to intrude to much

NURSE JOY
Hilda

they turn to face her Hilda becoming concerned again

SNIVY
is awake if you would like to see her

HILDA
thank you

nurse joy heads of back to work

HILDA
I got to go talk later

MARIA

INT. town Pokémon centre ICU room - night

snivy starts to stir ash and Hilda sat by her side taking ash in she curls up against the end of the bed

don't worry snivy ash is the one who saved us

she eases up ash smiles at her

I'm glad you all right snivy

snivy grabs ash in hug taking him by surprise she lets go ash pauses thinking

you remember a while ago you appeared at the nuvema town festival

you really inspired me after dad passed away my and my mum's worlds fell apart and she I guess she became over protective then a while ago she started to encourage to go out and that's when I saw you

ash
I glad I was their then

Hilda

ash

HILDA
I was wondering if I could come with you I would love see all your Pokémon

ash
of course you can I all ways love traveling with others

as Hilda arranges to travel with ash to pallet town the question is what's next for the duo
