  • Greetings, Unnatural_Flame here. I am glad to present this to all of you my nuzlocke run of Pokémon Unbound, one of my fave ROM Hacks 'cause of the enhancement of gameplay and great visuals that made it fan-favorite ROM Hack of 2022. If you don't know what this game is all about, please play it for yourself.
This game is actually challenging due to how diverse the concepts of Gym battles and new mechanics, and I'm going to nuzlocke it, because I can.
Here are original rules for Nuzlockes:
    1. You can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter on that route.
    2. Nickname EVERY Pokemon you catch, for you to get more attached.
    3. If the Pokemon faints, it goes and stays to a PC box eternally.
Now, here are additional rules to apply to this game.
    1. If a Grotto exist in a route, it considers as another Pokemon encounter, yet you can catch only ONE per route.
    2. Species Clause: Catching a Pokemon considers its other Pokemon in the evolution line to not be caught to not duplicate. (idk if thats the right way to put it simply)
    3. Encountering a wild Shiny Pokemon is free and catchable at any point.
    4. In Unbound's Expert Mode, only four (4) items can be used in any trainer or Gym battles.
    5. "Set" battle style mode is activated.
    6. There is a forced level cap, so that means if you beat the Gym Leader, you progress more levels.
    7. You can only catch the first encountered swarmed Pokemon in a specific route it shown.
    8. Uhm, suffer?
Anyway, Let's see if this first run will rolling through victory, or it will circle around over and over with many attempts.

  • Just woke up, and now I'm here at Shadow's Base? Yeah, Hoopa tries to kidnap me to be an experiment specimen for their ultimate weapon. But, there's another person here? Yeah, talking to him, telling his name is Raven, and introduced myself as Blaze, and his parents abandoned him something-something, but we try to find a way to escape. Until, we stumbled upon a cage that creates the commotion. So, we tried to open the cage and three Pokemon storms out: Gible, Beldum, and Larvitar. I picked Gible, and named him Cervoughn, and my rival picked Larvitar. After that, our Pokemon hack away their claws, vigorously biting to escape this shadow prison.
Then. I found myself at this snowy mountain and noticing snowflakes fall down in any direction. Such beauty that is winter. I also noticed the village, that I somehow live. I live close to the shadow's organization?! That wasn't concerning at all.
Anyway, I went to the village because Raven promised me to battle him with our Pokemon we kept. And then met Professor Log, the one who conducts research of Pokemon, like every generations of Pokemon professors do. Battling Raven wasn't much of the pain as I keep slashing Larvitar with metal claws. Keeping things short, Raven goes away to start ahead, and Prof. Log ask me with an errand to get the package from the PokeMart at Berlin Town, and also gave me five(5) Pokeballs and a Pokedex. And that folks, the nuzlocke has officially started.
Going to Route 1, and my first encounter is a Snorunt. I successfully caught her, and named her Eula. Rushing straight to Berlin Town to get bonus items, like Heal Balls and going to buy an Antidote exchange for a Dragon Gem to the old man that asked me a favor. Also, in some house, a father was concerned how they ran out of food supplies because of an Alolan Sandshrew robs in their house and runs away to Icicle Cave, but I will deal that later. But, as I enter the PokeMart, a suspicious guy blocks in my way trying to get away from something. I asked the Pokemart Clerk about the package, and by the looks of it, he regretted to give the parcel to the suspicious guy. So, I tried to trace its whereabouts and go north to the village and saw someone with all black and red cape cuts the blocked tree, and so I follow what will they do the package. I saw the team of people also dressed in black catching Articuno with the Master Ball inside the package. Pure evil I might say. Then, they go away past me and let some grunt to battle me, but I defeated her and recovered the package. Then, I went to Prof. Log's Lab to tell everything what happened, and afterwards he gave me a Town Map, a package for Raven, and missions to catch every Pokemon in existence, which is impossible due to me nuzlocking this game. Thanks, I guess.
Continuing my journey, I bought and collected the things I need, and talked to an old gentleman who has a Pokemon hatched from an egg and asked me if I want this Glameow. I accepted, and named her Leina, but she's quite of an attitude cat. Now, I will enter Icicle Cave to progress to my adventure.

    What could go wrong?

    "Cold Curiosity"
Entering the Icicle Cave, I saw Alolan-Sandalash burrows its way down to get away from me. I followed and entered the cave he made, and somehow an archaeologist discovers a strange plate. So, I talked to him and just gave me the Braille Converter to ask me a favor to scan and solve puzzles regarding to those strange plates. Nevertheless, I encountered and caught a Zubat, and named him Dyson. Heres the team update:
    1. "Cervoughn", the Gible
    2. "Eula", the Snorunt
    3. "Leina", the Glameow
    4. "Dyson", the Zubat
Trasversing through the cave, beating every trainers with my feral cat and ferocious lizard, collecting items, and then I stumbled upon Raven who came to me after training his Pokemon. So, I gave him the package Prof. Log prepared for him. Its a PokeDex. Raven kinda felt ungrateful about it, but just accepted it. Then, he decided to battle me for testing my team to its greatness, and that didn't go smoothly, and Larvitar deals high damage to my Pokemons. But, don't worry, none Pokemon died in this Rival fight. Hope the light at the end of this tunnel will make me feel better.

Going outside of the cave, a nice lady heals all of my Pokemon and gave me the option to skip the whole "Challenge Road" the trainers say about this route by talking to an esper. But, I think I saw Team Shadow, is that what they called because of thier outfits? Just some shady business, nothing more or less.

Oh, this is a new route, so new encounter to go. In Route 2, I walk up to pink teddybear called Stufful, and it didn't had the ability "Fluffy" to half physical damage to it as I hope it's going to be, so I'm disappointed. I still caught it and named him 'Puff-Tufff' (accidently type triple "F"s) and he joins to the team.

Now, I'm curious on how I do well in this "Challenge Road" because I am confident on my team, and then straight up gone into the first optional double battle, because you can battle then 1v1 on single battle. Foolish me thinking Leina and Eula can defeat these trainers easily.

But then it happened. The first death of the run. Leina the Glameow didn't stand a chance against Drilbur and Delibird. I guess my own curiosity killed the cat. Rest in peace, Leina.

"A Dance of Fire and Ice"
After that tragedy, I continued to beat all trainers in the "Challenge Road" carefully. Then, I talk to the pyromancer at the beach and gave me a female Litleo for beating all of the trainers here. I named her 'Ms. Sizzle'. By the way, here is my team update:
    1. 'Cervoughn' the Gible
    2. 'Eula' the Snorunt
    3. 'Dyson' the Zubat
    4. 'Puff-Tufff' the Stufful
    5. 'Ms. Sizzle' the Litleo
And yes, I will remind the first death of the run, 'Leina' the Glameow.

Now, I arrived at the Dresco Town, where the Battle Trainers' House exist to train my team. Mainly to the one trainer inside who had four(4) Audinos that gives crap tons of EXPs to everyone on my team to level up at the capacity of LV 20. Also, I try to get some new encounters on two new locations like:
    1. Route 3 - Slowpoke named "Lydie"
    2. Flower Paradise - Pansage named "Ackel" (He happens to have Leaf Stone held on him)

Suddenly, I remembered about the mission about the Alolan-Sandslash that keeps robbing food supplies like crazy. So, I went and confront that freezing-spiky pipsqueak with my trusty fiery cub "Ms. Sizzle". After that, the father confronts Alolan-Sandslash only to immediately realize that he robs his food to feed his young Sandshrews, because the people who are supposed to feed them has stopped feeding them. In the end, the father made the deal to sustain them regularly and made promise to the Sandslash take care of him. The father thanked me and gave me the first TM, "Hone Claws" which if it used, it boosts the Attack and its accuracy. Perfect for dealing fogs, which I'm going to explain later.

Well, the place where Alolan-Sandshrew lives is actually my next encounter, and I caught one of them, and named him "Subzero". which is going to be an awesome team member for the first Gym.

I did mention at the very beginning that the gym battle concepts are diverse. Some of the gym challenges will deplete Pokemon's health bit by bit if you don't have the right pokemon to play, and some will hinder your speed and mess up type coverages.
For example, the first gym leader, Mirskle, was told that he's only a "Grass-type Leader", yet he has coverage on Fairy type Pokemon too. Not only that, he blasts out fog in the whole Gym room to decrease all Pokemon's accuracy.
Basically, you need to plan for every single Gym battle as possible.

After training my team to beat the first gym, changing movesets, and planning ahead, we'll take on Mirskle, a "Grass-type" gym leader whose head is high above the clouds.

Leading with "Subzero" and "Dyson", while "Subzero" charges up by honing its claws, "Dyson" always falls asleep by Gloom's Sleep Powder. Why "Subzero" wasn't targeted by it, cause he wears cool shades of Safety Goggles gave by our rival Raven, Yeah, thanks Raven.
Because of synergy of it, "Subzero" obliterates opponents down to freezing temperature, with the help of "Ms. Sizzle" too.

That's the first gym badge of the run.

    "Meltdown"
Then, a bunch of thugs wore black-and-green punk jackets angrily asks where Mirskle because they look like they owe something to him something-something, but yeah after they saw nothing, they left. What a weird gym leader not gonna lie. After that, me and my team step outside from the Gym, and then some guy just flew with his Staravia and dunno where he's going but ok.

It's time for team recap! Heres my whole team after the Gym Leader fight:
    1. 'Cervoughn' the Gible
    2. 'Eula' the Snorunt
    3. 'Dyson' the Zubat
    4. 'Puff-Tufff' the Stufful
    5. 'Lydie' the Slowpoke
    6. 'Ackel' the Simisage (Pansage evolved by Leaf Stone)
    7. 'Subzero' the Alolan-Sanshrew (MVP of 1st Gym)
    Deaths:
    1. 'Leina' the Glameow
I decided to enter the house in and then I saw an old person. I made conversation with him asking who I am and he told he's name is Grandpa Arthur. I was asked if I know something about Borrius' history, which if you haven't played this game, pls play it to understand what's happening here.
Jax, Grandpa Arthur's grandson, suddenly storms in the house, and tells us that Team Shadow is going to kidnap the Moltres above the Cinder Volcano and tried to contact Prof. Log. Making things short, Prof. Log assign me to stop Team Shadow for their "wrong-doings".
Then, as usual, buying important supplies on Pokemart, and go straight to Cinder Volcano to continue this heroic story.

But first, I collected some encounters in these new routes and locations:
    1. Grim Woods - Caterpie that I named him 'Midra'
    2. Route 4 - Lillipup that I named her 'Chicory' (She's quite of a happy dog.)
    3. Cinder Volcano - Magby that I named him 'Ekraust' (Saw him just bathing in lava for no reason.)

I setback for a bit to prepare my Pokemon to the next Major Battle of this run, the Shadow Admin Marlon, yes the one with the black and red outfit. It's a forced double battle. While Marlon and a Shadow Grunt on the opposing side, Me and Jax battle against them to stop them for kidnapping Moltres. These two will stall you with super-bulky ghosts that Will-O-Wisps you, dangerous plants that's trying to beat you up, and heart-shaped nose bat. In my past runs, I can't proceed to game unless one(1) Pokemon will die from them. But, I think can do it without a single one die to them. Right?

I started to trasverse into the volcano, going up above to the peak, beating trainers in my path, and when I'm at the peak, looks like I'm too late. Team Shadow already got the Moltres.

Yeah, jax. Stop arguing with them, we will beat up the red guy later on.

I decided to join forces with Jax and go down following the tracks of Team Shadow. He gone straight first to the ground floor, and I stayed planning my three Pokemon to use for the fight:
    1. Dyson the Crobat (Lead)
    2. Cervoughn the Gabite
    3. Subzero the Alolan-Sandshrew
I'll be honest with you, I didn't remember what exactly happened in this fight cause it's in the past moments I played the game, but I'll try.

Beginning of the fight, I let Dyson use Quick Guard to block Fake Out, and Jax's Staravia lowers Attack of Marlon's Duskull. Next turn, Grunt's Sableye maliciously Will-o-Wisps my Crobat. Remembering that, I shouldn't have made him leading the fight for he's going to sweep Shiftry and Cacnea. Nonetheless, I switched to Cervoughn to tank hits to heal Dyson with Burn Heal and Potion, and swipes the face out of Sableye while keeping the health up with Super Potion. Then, Grunt sends out the mischievous tree, Shiftry.
I need to tank hits from this tree and don't waste healing items at its maximum use in battle. So, I send out Subzero to tank hits from it while also keeping up his health with a Lemonade, but Shiftry deal high amount of damage to this blue pipsqueak. Thankfully, Jax's Magnemite uses both Reflect and Light Screen to half the damage from both physical and special attacks.

But, something happened. Marlon switch his Duskull and let out his Cacnea. Together with the Shiftry, their dark branches and thunderous punches decimate Subzero down to zero HP.

That was so freaking sad. Thought after this fight I can evolve him into a huge spiky boi, because of how great he is on the first Gym battle, but I guess the heat from the volcano and from the intense battle melted his own existence out.

That made a great a sacrifice to switch in Dyson to viciously destroy the evil plants in pure anger. With the forces of Jax's Golett, we finally won. (But at what cost...)

That means, another death was occurred. Rest well too, Subzero.

  • Hey guys, next episode will tackle about the 2nd Gym Leader fight. It might take long, because I haven't done it, and writing this playthrough to you guys makes me happy, yet grinding and planning is also needed. Btw. Thanks for reading!

    "The Terror of Shadows"
After the fight against Marlon, me and Jax reported to Prof. Log and Grandpa Arthur what happened there. Skipping much ahead to the plot, I continue my journey outside of the volcano, and go straight to the new path, Route 5. A Taillow just whizzes above my head being hyper-active and loud. He is just being so happy, and abruptly joins my team. I named him Fabrix.

Walking down the path, I noticed a house, so I entered and saw a trainer who wants to offer me one of the three Unova starters:
    Tepig, Oshawott, or Snivy.
I chose Oshawott, and named her Uma, like the vibe of a sea pirate.

Here is an introduction of the new town called Crater Town. A town which is distinguishable due to its crater which caused by some meteorites at the bottom of it. This town is a place where lies the Second Gym Leader of the run. Vega, A Dark-type specialist and a secret agent of a "certain" organization (I wonder what organization it is...) which not only has Pokemons which are purely offensive, his Gym is also spreading 'negative energy'. The 'negative energy' decreases HP every turn if your pokemon isn't Dark, Ghost, or Psychic type, yet Pokemon with abilities like Unaware, Oblivious, or Magic Guard, will not be affected by it. Quite an engulfing darkness that adds to the challenge.

Anyway, after I run into the Pokemon Center, people are talking about a certain Clefairy who escaped the day-care and they suspected that in this place is where they hiding. There's something suspicious behind the bookshelves and look! There's the Clefairy, but he looks frightened. I tried to comfort him, and he felt better with it. He then joins my team and named him Gerson.

Then, I discovered a huge entrance to a cave which people called "KBT Expressway". Aparrently, it is an underground highway which you can run to any location you want, but in the early game, it's limited for now. I can get an encounter here too by going to the rough road instead of the smooth road.
I stumbled upon this Nosepass while I'm running, but he didn't seem to bother about it. I just caught it, and named him Skatlich.

Alright, here's the new rule I forgot to type at the beginning. If you wach at other's people's house TV, there is a certain Pokemon swarming at the specific route or location. So, here is the rule for that.

    - You can only catch the first encountered swarmed Pokemon in a specific route it shown.

So, I did try to watch TV, and it said that Vulpix is currently swarming in Cinder Volcano. So,after me and my team entered the volcano, we saw a Vulpix is showing off how she can do tricks with her fiery breath. My Pokemon team was amazed by her performance, so they tried to convinced her to join my team. She accepted, and I decided to named her Julia.

Then, in another time, when the TV presented that Poochyenas swarmed on Route 2, I rushed to catch one because I need it to face on Vega. I named him Benett. By the looks of him, you might think he's always an angry wolf, but he's quite the energizer of the squad.

Team recap time! Heres my whole team while grinding some of the important ones before the next Gym Battle. Many of my Pokemon are evolved due to level evolutions and evolution stones I found on mining.

    - Cervoughn the Gabite
    - Eula the Froslass (Snorunt evolved via Dawn Stone)
    - Dyson the Crobat
    - Puff-Tufff the Stufful
    - Ms. Sizzle the Litleo
    - Lydie the Slowpoke
    - Ackel the Simisage
    - Midra the Caterpie
    - Chicory the Herdier (Evolved from Lillipup)
    - Ekraust the Magby
    - Fabrix the Swellow (Evolved from Taillow)
    - Uma the Dewott (Evolved from Oshawott)
    - Gerson the Clefable (Clefairy evolved via Moon Stone)
    - Skatlich the Probopass (Nosepass evolved via Thunder Stone)
    - Julia the Ninetales (Vulpix evolved via Fire Stone)
    - Benett the Mightyena (Evolved from Poochyena)

Now it's time for the darkest Gym battle I'm about to face, and it did go more roughly than I anticipated.

I lead with Fabrix and Vega unleashes his own feral cat, Liepard.
Here's the plan. I pre-burned Fabrix to activate its Guts ability to deal more damage if it has status conditions, and I will use the move Quick Guard to block Fake Out from Liepard, and then chip some damage with Secret Power and Quick Attack. But, for some stupid reasons and feeling overconfident in retrospect, I mis-tap Quick Attack instead of Quick Guard, so that Liepard takes the lead on flinching Fabrix.

This wasn't my only misplay, because on the next turn, I frantically go for Secret Power instead of Quick Attack thought Fabrix is faster than the Liepard. But, oh boy I was dead wrong like Fabrix died like a bird that was eaten by a leopard.
Only a foolish guy like me can do this very stupid play. Forgive me, Fabrix.

Then, Gerson tried to comfort me like I comforted him on our first encounter, and starts to deafen Liepard with his disarm cries until it faints.
Then, Vega sends out his Absol. Also beaten down by Gerson with the help of a healing item.

Weavile is next, so I switched to Skatlich to tank its incoming attacks. Skatlch then used Thunder Wave to paralyze Weavile. I switched to Benett to beat down the mischievous ice assassin with fire fangs.

    Final Pokemon is Honchkrow.
So, here's the situation, Benett's HP is low enough to get killed by a crit, and Skatlich has half HP, but others like julia and Dyson have full HP and I thought that they can beat up this crow down to finish this. We also needed ato tank hits by Skatlich
So, Firstly, I healed Skatlich by Super Potion and let Benett take an Air Cutter that I wished it wouldn't crit. It didn't crit, and he lived on 3 HP.

Second, I switched him and take out Dyson to see how much he can deal damage on Cross Poison. Unfortunately, it did 1/4 of Honchkrow's HP and didn't poison. That black crow deals huge damage on Air-Cutting Dyson.

Then, I tried to switch in Julia thinking she can take less damage, but then it dealt half the HP to her too. What a misplay.
And then, I unleahed Skatlich to attack using Power Gem. But, Vega heals Honchkrow back to full HP.

Now Skatlich sits below half HP, so I try to switch to Benett.
I don't know why I did that. I think it's either because I don't want to let Skatlich die or I think Benett can deal damage and take no extra damage to 'negative energy' . The answer is both.

Because of that reasoning, Benett tries to electrocute Honchkrow with Thunder Fangs, but the crow attacks first and whooshes the wind to knock out Benett down. Yes, it's the second death of the gym battle. I thought that he will outspeed Honchkrow after EV training on Speed, but that happened.

Rest in peace too, Benett. You truly are a joyful wolf.

After that, Dyson then took vengeance, and viciously swipes Honchkrow with Cross Poison, dodges Swagger, and finishes it with the final blow of Cross Poison.

What a stressful fight and I felt a bit disappointed on what happened, but then I must keep moving I guess. There's the second gym badge.

    Deaths of the Run:
    - Leina the Glameow
    - Subzero the Alolan Sandshrew
    - Fabrix the Swellow
    - Benett the Mightyena

After going to the light outside the Gym, the Team Shadow grunts who keeps blocking the entrance below to the another passageway to KBT Expressway went away somewhere. That's suspicious on how they just open up the entrance to bait me for them to kidnap me.
Because that plot point also leads to another major battles against Shadow Admin Ivory, and the boss of the organization, Zeph.

Then, after preparing my team, I go straight to below entrance of the expressway, get kidnapped by the grunts, and challenge Ivory first.
Her team changed in this new update of 2.1.0.

Julia astonishingly sweeps up Misdreavus and Kadabra, and Skatlich and Gerson beat up the baby vulture.

Then, Zeph just shoves Ivory, and let him finish the job to destroy me using his Mega Houndoom.
I decided to let Chicory show its doll eyes to his Houndoom lowering down its Attack. When the Houndoom get too aggressive, Cervoughn charges in to bulldoze him down.

And then, Zeph just decided to let me go then just on how he's scared against my true top dragon. And immediately, a Hoopa, that kidnapped in the very beginning of the game just teleported me back into the KBT Expressway-Below.

A hiker noticed me and told me that you can't get past to those rugged rocks if you don't have Rock Smash HM, but he instead gave a an HM for Cut to go another way to Blizzard City to get the Rock Smash HM.

  • Attempt #1 - Part 6
"Prepare For Trouble, and Make It Triple"

Aight, I continued my journey, and on my way to Blizzard City.

Now, I can access to Grottos thanks to HM Cut, and the rule about Grottos applies here.
'What about those?', you may ask. These Grottos contain Dynamaxed Pokemon that may have powerful stats and hidden abilities. After you defeated them, you have the option to catch them or end the battle, and also you get bonus items like healing items and goodies.

The rule here is that I can only catch the first Grotto I encountered. So, here are my encounters that I caught:
    - Route 5 Grotto - Venonat that I named him Shackle
    - Route 6 Grotto - Deerling that I named her Shisuki
    - Route 7 Grotto - Mr. Mime that I named him Luscent
    - Route 4 Grotto - Mothim that I named him Grace Free

    Next up, swarm encounters!
    - Sentret (Route 2) that I named him Nuxite
    - Dunsparce (Valley Cave) that I named her Freida

And last but not the least, here are my wild encounters:
    - Woobat (Valley Cave) that I named him Hunge-Hic
    - Bunelby (Route 6) that I named him Hop Stewie
    - Yungoos (Route 7) that I named her Kimberly
    - Old Rod fishing at the Valley Cave catching a Magikarp that I named him Rouvesteir; and
    - Roggenrola (Frost Mountain) that I named her Jupple

After processing my new encounters, training EV's they need, and losing my sanity on how grinding is tedious, me and my team entered back to Frost Mountain which I return to wake up Raven who was just lying down the ground. Why is he there on the first place?

Well, in retrospect, he ecountered one of the admins of Team Shadow, Ivory. I don't know what they talked about, but she literally yeets him to a rock down to unconsciousness thanks to her Alakazam.

    And then, I just left.

Aight, end of the flashback. He wakes up and asks me how my Pokemon are doing well and he just tries to challenge me right away.

Dude, you aren't concerned of yourself, and just battle me like you never have internal bleeding on your back?!

He then brings out THE ultimate team that I called them, the Triple Threat.

A Toucannon, A Swinub, and A fricking Pupitar.

I sort of unprepared for this fight. Being unaware of what's worse that can happen in this fight and not bringing the right Pokemon will lead to irreversible outcomes.

And thus, that happened. Three deaths occured in this treacherous fight.

Puff-Tufff, Uma, and Skatlich. All three gets stomped flat by that Pupitar. Especially that crit on Skatlich.

Well, that sucked. Most painful one is Skatlich. Even he is just an oblivious piece of compass, he became a great tank to my team.
    Rest well you three.

Then, I go back to train the new recruits for the team, and grind a bit more on investment of Attack on Rouvesteir the Gyarados (Evolved from Magikarp).
Maybe I was a bit tired on that time that my mind gone auto-pilot, denying that Rouvesteir was confused by Swagger from an opposing Mightyena.
So, I never realized Rouvesteir is in danger, until he hits itself in confusions and got beaten up to death while grinding.

    While grinding.

That made me freaking upset and abruptly quit the game. (Don't worry, the emulator has an auto-save feature)

The whole session made me feel disappointed to myself on how I jump into battles without a plan, and unfocused mind gets you distracted until you realized you made a mistake.

Overall, I still hate that Pupitar.

    "Frozen Heart"

Now, I headed up inside Frost Mountain to climb my way up to the peak. Outside of the mountain, the cold winds and hailstorms greeted me to introduce to the new path, Route 8. My new encounter here is a Cubchoo, that I named him Icefoot.

After crossing along within blizzards and snowfalls, I reached into Blizzard City. A place where people live above Frost Mountain and where snows fall gently like soft cotton.

Here also exist the third gym leader of the run, Alice.
You might think that she is an Ice-type Gym Leader, but nope she's actually a Flying-type specialist.

Her team consists of 'stealth-rock' ninja Minior, bulky ace Gliscor, poison-hindering Crobat, flightless bird Dodrio, and she has now the first mega Pokemon, Mega Pinsir. A difficult team with pure bulk and hindrance.
Not only that, she breezes out tailwinds to outspeed your Pokemons, unless you have Flying-types than can surpass that tailwind.

In the past, I lost to so many runs to this Gym Leader. Pure chances are needed to win this fight.

So, I did bought some new TMs at their PokeMart, collect new items, and do some side missions.

One of which is that one trainer which her Alolan Ninetales was kidnapped by a robber. After searching the robber's whereabouts, I suddenly noticed him going east to the Frozen Forest, which can be discovered if you take the mission.

This new location I met a new encounter that is Snover, that I named her Minty Zaki.

Tracing the path of that kidnapper, I saw him outside at the other side of the forest. He tries to battle me with his stolen Ninetales and Mightyena, but we swept them and cornered him.

But then, there are huge thuds that can be heard inside the forest.

As it stomps out of the forest, it reveals itself as The Crabonimable Snowman. It scared the crap out of the robber, and then faints itself.

So, I decided to tame the beast and catch it, and named her Heartsmash.

After that, the robber decided to bring back the stolen Ninetales back to its owner, and the trainer thanked me for what I've done and gave me an Egg, which contains an Alolan-Vulpix, that I named her Melinda.

Now, it's time to battle Alice. Here's the team I heavily prepared for one of the hardest Gym fights in the game:
    - Freida the Dunsparce. She's in charge of paralyzing enemies and bulk
    - Gerson the Clefable. He holds a Lagging Tail to Bestow to any opposing Pokemon to drastically lower their speed even when Tailwind is up.
    - Jupple the Gigalith. Another bulky tank and counter to her Mega-Pinsir.
    - Melinda the Alolan-Ninetales. She would be a back-up attacker if defenses are down to my team.
    - Ekraust the Magmar. I invested the Max Defense EVs to take hits and make enemies burn by his Flame Body; and
    - Heartsmash the Crabominable. I also invested Max Def EVs to tank hits and hit hard like a truck.

    Let's see how it goes.

I lead with Freida and Alice leads with Minior.

Starting off, I let Freida use Glare against Minior. Bad Idea, cause Minior's shield due to their ability, Shields Down, resists paralysis on Freida. So, Minior initiaes to Stealth Rock on our side.

And then, Freida uses Ancient Power once, and it gave her omniboost, meaning all of her stats are boosted.

Next turn, Alice switches to her Gliscor, and knocks off Freida's healing berry, and also use Acrobatics which is boosted thanks to Gliscor's held Flying Gem, yet Freida tanks the hit enormously.

After healing Freida with a Hyper Potion that Hop Stewie picked up, Freida starts to bring out her frightening glare and body-slams
    to defeat Gliscor to oblivion.

And then, she sends out her Mega-Pinsir. I send out to Jupple and started to toughen her defenses and launches boulders to smack down that Pinsir into a dead cockroach.

Next up is her Dodrio. Jupple now has low health, so I switch into Ekraust, and took some damage to Stealth Rocks and Dodrio also knocks off its held Eviolite.

Then, she switches to her Minior and I also switched to Gerson. Minior then tries to confuse Gerson, and when Gerson tries to attack, he hit himself.
And then, she switches again to her Crobat. Crobat venoshocks Gerson and dealt more than 1/2 HP to him. I'm super glad Gerson surpassed through confusion, and then he Bestows his held Lagging Tail to the Crobat to never experience riding the wind again.

But this is the time to sacrifice someone, because I need to have a safe switch to Heartsmash.
So, Ekraust takes one for the team, and took the toxic bullets from the four-winged bat like a champ.

Then, I unleashed the ultimate beast with the frozen heart, Heartsmash.
She outspeeds and obliterates Crobat, because Crobat's holding Lagging Tail from Gerson.
Then, her Minior then tries to chip damage Heartsmash, but she ain't forgiving to destroy that floating meteor even if it has shields up.
Lastly, her Dodrio. I doubted that Heartsmash won't take damage from the Dodrio due to her HP is down to crit range and due to a Dodrio have its Max Attack EVs.

But, I decided to stay in.

And Heartsmash LIVES at 4 HP!

She counters back with her cold punches to win to us this stressful Gym Battle.
