Beginner's Lounge Forum Rules

Welcome to the the Beginner's Lounge! This forum exists as a place for getting help with specific problems you have with your ROM hack, as well as for documenting potential ideas you have for new ROM hacks or new features in ROM hacks which you wish to have help fleshing out and developing.

Idea threads in this forum can be moved up to either Progressing Hacks or the Sideshow Showcase if and when they fulfill the requirements for hack threads in those respective sections, so be sure to review their rule threads before asking to be moved up.

Hacking group threads cannot be posted. Instead, create a post in the Recruitment & Team Building Thread using the syntax outlined in its first post.

If you have your own ideas, we ask that you write them out. Freely write as much as you can on it (at least a paragraph of an idea). We invite other members to openly, but constructively, criticise the ideas written down in this forum. Just note though, that constructive criticism aims to help the member. As a general rule of thumb, if your reply doesn't exactly help it, your reply may be in breach of the rules set here.

Of course, there are general ground rules for this forum listed below, as well as definitions that will be used in this forum, particularly for moderation.

Forum Rules

This forum is bound to rules that are set by the global PokéCommunity rules.
To make sure that things remain civil, and to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable time, we ask that, along with the global PokéCommunity rules, you observe the rules and resulting infractions set forth. You'll probably find yourself in the other subforums of ROM Hacking the majority of your time here; however, if you wish to discuss particular subject this is the place for you.

Do not post, direct users to, or link to commercial ROMs of any sort.
Regardless of whether a new hacker needs them or any other purpose, you may not link to a "download" of any commercial game (basically, any commercially sold that we ROM hack in here), or direct users to any method to downloading a ROM.
You may be infracted (three permanent infraction points) or risk immediate suspension of your account, should you link to commercial ROMs of any sort.

Additional Guidelines

Threads in this forum are not subject to approval
To help encourage posting in this subforum the 48 Hour Moderation rule for threads is not in place. This does mean that your threads will be posted immediately so please make sure they're completely correct!

]Idea threads in this forum should not just be asking for ideas.
The premise of Idea threads is indeed to develop and improve ideas, but if you're going to simply ask for people to give you an idea, your thread will be locked.

Problem threads should be descriptive.
The best way for somebody to assist you with an issue is to give as much information as possible: what ROM are you hacking, what exactly is your issue. If a script is involved, include the script in a [SPOILER][/SPOILER] tag. Screenshots and other visual aids are also encouraged.

Constructive criticism is open, flaming and trolling is not.
You are allowed to constructively criticise an idea that comes in. However, flaming in this forum is not tolerated and is considered anti-social.
