Pre-challenge, Petalburg City and Route 102
My challenge didn't really start until I reached Petalburg. Basically, to summarize the trip up to that I choose Torchic, won against May. I also won against everyone on route 102. I helped Wally catch his Ralts and then I traded away my Torchic for Angel the Smeargle. I had also caught a few Seedots so I could Dexnav grind to find a Seedot with Bullet Seed to help in defeat Roxie. I had found a Hidden Ability Seedot while grinding (Pick-pocket), and caught a few Seedots that held Power Herbs. I would like to point out,
that yes I can catch other pokemon, I just cannot use them.
Route 104 & Petalburg Woods
I had Angel grind a bit in Route 104 (I had traded her over at Level 7 with only her first sketch.) I then caught a Taillow to try to find one with Brave Bird, so I could sketch it (I had leveled her up to Level 11,
so she had her second Sketch.). I didn't find one, so I decided to just sketch Peck. I ad to soft reset five times fighting Rich Boy Winston, because Angel had begun to disobey and Bullet Seed did almost nothing.
I avoided all Trainers in the Petalburg, only fighting off the one Team Magma grunt to get the exp. share.
I also avoided all trainers after that.
Rustboro Gym
I was having a hard time with Angle disobeying every single other turn, so I skipped all trainers leading up to Roxanne. Finally I had encountered Roxanne. Fighting her was actually very hard. I equiped an Oran Berry to Angel because I knew that Rock Tomb would do a lot of damage. After several resets, I had successfully killed her Geodude on the first turn without taking any damage. I wanted this to happen so I could save my Oran Berry and HP for her Nosepass which would prove to be a problem. My first few turns I got lucky and hit Bullet Seed several times in a row without having Angel disobey. I had five good turns with a constant Bullet Seed and potion combo. Luckily she had only had Nosepass use Rock Tomb at the beginning of the battle, but my oran berry helped up most of the lost HP.
However, the real problem happened when she used her Potion. Bullet Seed was basically doing nothing,
and after she healed her Nosepass, Angel suddenly begun to stop obeying. I bought her Nosepass down to half health, and suddenly FOR FIVE TURNS IN A ROW, her Nosepass's tackle critical hit me. For FIVE WHOLE TURNS, it was NOTHING BUT CRITICAL HITS. I basically had to heal during that time, and whenever I didn't need to heal and decided to attack, Angel would disobey.
Luckily Nosepass stopped Critical Hitting me every turn, and I was able to land a few more hits. However I had got the Nosepass into a low red range (enough for one more bullet seeds to hit). AND AGAIN, Nosepass landed another Critical hit. I healed up with a potion, and tried to attack again. Angel disobeyed, but luckily she hit the turn after. And the ridiculously long battle was over.
