2nd Gen An Alolan naturalist's obnoxiously long journey through Johto

Hi everyone!
l see a lot of people are doing journals of then GS playthroughs and I thought I'd join in with my journal for VC gold! It's really largely just A collection of random thoughts I've had. I'm currently in Mahogany town. I started with the franchise way back with Gen. 1 'but gen.2 always had more nostalgia appeal because I had lost my cartridge like 12-14 years ago and remembered loving those games. So here goes! Its kinda long so I've included some fun screenshots (look at how funny grimer looks!)
1. New Bark Town. My character is named Gold and right at the start the graphics take me way back. While gen 3 really started giving us a detailed, varied world to explore, I'm still into the simplicity of the second generation, with the vivid colors. I get my first 'mon from Professor Elm. this dude is so underrated. He doesn't even have a full-body sprite since Oak greets us at the start. I choose cyndaquil and name him Cooker. We set off on my nostalgia trip adventure. I'm such a fan of the sprites! Sentret ! Pidgey doesn't look like a nasty city Pidgeon that ate too much pizza crust ! (red and blue, anyone ?). I whup Silver's Totodile. Also, A big shout-out to Elm's assistant. The ONLY one who comes through with some potions and poke balls (Meanwhile mom is just like 'eh , I'll, uh , save your money. Don't worry, it's safe with me! *goes on Amazon. com as soon as I leave*). Because in Kanto they know how to convert biological species into data to store in PCs but that online banking is too darn hard.

2. Cherrygrove. I catch a Pidgey. I knew I would and I'd been thinking of names. I definitely want it to refer to their head feathers and especially to the glorious hipster masterpiece that is Pidgeot's "hair". You just know Pidgeot, Bouffalant ,Zoroark and Mega Ampharos follow each other on instagram! I wanted to call him 'slick" but I'd rather Save that name for Alolan grimer(as in oil slick) so I call her Crestie. We train and I catch a few others that I box . I get Youngster Joey'snumber and soon come to regret it. Joey in the type to call you right as you are about to fall asleep on the night before an exam to tell you about how his top-percent rattata fails at defeating a sleeping metapod

3. Violet. I wasn't even planning on having a Kanto fest but I can't resist belsprout's cool lime green derpface and awesome back Sprite (seriously, gen.2 is my aesthetic). So I get one and call him Pitcher (for pitcher plants). We train to lvl.15 and make short work of Falkner (and Crestie gets to see what cool combover awaits her after evolution). I catch one living alphabet macaroni at Ruins of Alph but have no interest in completing the Unown dex

4. Azalea. oh man , Mareep has been my fave Johtomon forever ( cool name, concept, I've actually reed-and understood 70% of - Do Androids dream of electric sheep? (I know I do!) but I don't want both a grass and an electric type (and Mareep's sprite is kind of gnarly) so I don't keep one. Same for Wooper (I've got my eyes on another amphibian: Poliwag). We easily defeat current team Rocket, soon to be Team Skull members at the slowpoke well. Remember when Team rocket had a money-laundering operation at a casino and tried to take over it he Apple/ Microsoft of Kanto? Well, now they steal slowpoke tails in a hole in the ground. Team Skull indeed. By the way, I am now the proud trainer of an even-derpier Weepinbell, a Pidgeotto and a Quilava

5. Goldenrod. I do much training, including Rocky the onix from Violet and Rat Queen the rattata-turned-raticate I caught because like 17% of my current quarter-life crisis comes from unprocessed memories of Whitney's Miltank from 15 years ago so I wanted to leave nothing to chance. We actually have an easy time ( lvl 25 Cooker, Pitcher and Crestie are enough). Take that, child hood fears! I get 2nd place in Bug-catching with a Pinsir. I tried again later in the cool long grass I forgot Johto had before Hoenn and use all my balls to catch scyther which isn't impressive Now, since you could get him easily in other games, but which would have made me the king of recess when I was 9 and parkballs were the only way (aside from the even harder Safari balls in RBY

6. Ecruteak! the city of tradition! I unexpectedly took a liking to the tree-cosplaying hot-dog rock and add female sudowoodo called Sequoia to my team. We train and defeat Morty and Wow was his Gengar a pain to beat! We also easily defeat the Eeveelution girls and Espeon's sprite is adorable. I finally get my tadpole! a female poliwag called Rana (Latin for frog) that l quickly evolve.

7. Olivine. "Hey random kid, brave the troubled,whirlpool-filled seas and go get me medicine even though cell phones are a thing and Mrs. Chuck's Pokemon know fly." -Jasmine, the kid who is also responsible for making sure Ships don't run aground at night. Sure...

8. Cianwood. Whoa I have never liked Tentacool and -cruel as much as this game. So much exp.! Although Rana only has water moves & ice punch and Pitcher refuses to learn... anything (where are all the TM in this region?!) So training them is hard. Literally my fire starter fares better... And my rock type...(since the jellys don't have water moves). I grind a lot but easily defeat Chuck. I go back to Olivine and...Steel the badge from Jasmine (eheh). Also I don't know why Pokemon centers even exist since I go from Saving Amphy to running all over a region looking for berries to help an animal I'm fairly certain should not be allowed to make milk for consumption per USDA standards (that mad cow). I Sort of forgot you could Surf to Kanto and am so pleased to be welcomed there for a few minutes before surfing back to Johto

9. Mahogany. I get to Mahogany & realize I was probably meant to go there before the previous two because I am super over-leveled. I go to Lake of Rage where tourists have gathered to marvel at the beauty of natural variation as seen in a majestic Sea Serpent and proceed to catch it before their eyes and call it Ruddy. yes, i'm a buzzkill but I have a shiny dragon so... I help Lance "Is that A Cape? It's called fashion look it up" storm the Rocket hideout where my mom Calls me like "hey honey what are you up to? Nothing mom just storming a lair of villains. Remember, the one who killed that marowak in Cold blood two years ago?""that's nice honey, so listen I bought you some items and myself a new pair of shoes and some random stuff from the infomercials" "what?" "what?"

So this is where I'm at basically. It's a long post and I reckon few people will read it, but I had fun writing it... I had to include the golduck pic because Golduck was such an amazing water type for me when I was a kid and playing through Gold and Silver. With surf and Ice punch it was unstoppable so it was neat to find one in Ilex forest

Hey just a little thought to make it a bit more fun to read - maybe add the images via Imgur and put them in between the parts of your post? :) Makes your journey a little more interesting to follow.

Also ya lucky there really isn't Amazon in these games lol poor Kurt will be outta business.
