  • The Pokémon world is extremely fascinating with many different colorful creatures, unfortunately,
there is not much detailed information and lore about them in canon,
and is instead left for interpretation and theorizing.

Therefore, today, every day! I will write a random
Pokémon Dex entry (fanon of course^^) starting with...

    Spoiler: Random Pokemon No.1

    Shellder The Bivalve Pokémon

It is enclosed in a hard purple shell with four stubs on the top and bottom of its body. The shell is largely composed of calcium carbonate. The cells in its shell secrete proteins and minerals that form its tough, hard-to-open armor, which it uses to protect itself from predators (Such as the Staryu and Krabby Line).

Because of the remarkable compactness of its armor, it is believed to withstand all attacks from enemies, and some believe that the shell itself is unbreakable. This was later disproved when archaeologists found remains of Shellder used to make necklaces. In addition, researchers have found that the shell degrades over time (Though this process may take many years). However, they are unable to reconstruct the broken parts of their former body and may die if left to their vulnerability, as the creature is quite weak without a shell to protect it.

When escaping from predators, the Shellder uses its long, pink tongue to burrow into the sand. Other defense mechanisms include flinging themselves far away by sucking in water only to shoot it out, propelling itself to safety (this is how this species is able to swim backwards), attacking by projecting its beads, or simply hiding in their shell. In general, Shellders are very shy creatures and usually hide in cowardice. However, do not attempt to provoke a Shellder, as existing reports of Shellder occasionally have it cling to its attacker and bite ferociously.

They usually reside in the ocean floor and feed on fallen debris and sometimes smaller Pokemon, when in captivity a Shellder is rather unresponsive, as it usually stays in its shell. Only when attached to a trainer does it show itself to humans.

Despite its reclusive nature, it is sought by collectors for its beads, which it produces when unwanted foreign objects enter its body, and to which it mixes aragonite and conchiolin, creating beautiful rare Pearls. Shellder chowder is also quite a popular dish with many people farming Shellder for profit.
