Adding sun/moon pokemon

I've already added XY pokemon to the game, by editing the pokemon.txt file.
but when I do the same with sun/moon pokemon, the game ignores it.
the new pokemon don't appear in the F9 menu (test wild battle, etc)
and when I manually call startWildBattle(722) - Rowlet's number- I get an error "invalid species 722 for 721".
the game thinks there are only 721 pokemon.
I've tried to force the game to update the list-
like, delete the save file, create a new save file, re-create the pokemon.txt file etc, nothing works.
what can I do?

Never mind, fixed it. I had to select 'compile' on the built in editor exe
