Tide's pull
Chapter one
Cat stretched her arms above her head rising out of the bed. She ruffled her thick blue hair before sighing and grabbing a brush.
"Cat, your friend is here!" Her mother called up the stairs.
"Send him and Inferno up!" She called back, she heard the sound of small paws racing up the stairs and pulled up a pillow, something slammed into it barking happily. She lowered the pillow to receive a lick across the whole side of her face, from jaw line to hair line. She smiled and ruffled the puppy pokemons head.
"Hello, Inferno." She said to the Growlithe who was wagging his tail happily.
'Cat! Yay, Cat!' He barked happily.
(This is Ethan's pokemon, think of how we had Ethan/Lyra with a marill in heart gold,)
"Hello, Cat." The owner of the fire type said, from her doorway, it was Laevis, son of Professor Elm, and Cat's oldest friend. He was tall and lanky, much like his father, had his mothers striking black hair, which was, just like with his father, a little unkept, and his fathers black eyes. Laevis preferred natural colors such as browns and greens, today was a green shirt and brown slacks with his hiking boots. "You ready?" He asked. Cat grabbed her bag from her table, and quickly put on her own hiking boots.
"Yeah!" She said walking over to him. Both headed downstairs where Cat's mother was. She spotted the two and smiled.
"You look so much like your dad, here." She gave Cat a small phone like device. "Your Pokegear is back from the shop, don't let Inferno near it again, alright?" Cat nodded making sure to set the correct date. "Have fun on your journey, and don't forget to record it for me, alright?" Cat hugged her mother.
"I will, don't worry, anyways, I'm just doing a trial run first, if I find that too hard-" Laevis scoffed at that, but Cat ignored it. "Then I'm going to stay behind as an assistant, I'll see you after the trial run, alright?" Cat's mother nodded and the two young trainers left the house walking over to Elm's lab as Inferno raced around.
"Which starter are you choosing?" Laevis asked. Cat smiled.
"Totodile, of course, you know how I am with water types." Laevis nodded, Cat adored water type pokemon, it was not surprising to find her chatting with fisherman who came by, or having her face in the water next to New bark town, trying to spot a water type bold enough to swim close.
"Of course, and I take it you're going after doing an all water team?" He asked, pausing to stare at a red haired boy staring through one of his father's lab windows.
"Yep, I know I can succeed!" She said grinning, not noticing the red haired individual and walking straight into the lab.
"Inferno, sit, watch the red head." Laevis said softly, Inferno barked and sat down staring at said red head. Laevis walked into the lab to see Cat holding the Totodile happily.
"Panj." She said. That was the name of a river in a far off county, count on Cat knowing such a random thing. The Totodile beamed at that, showing off her row of sharp teeth.
"Well, now, Cat, I need you and…Panj, to go visit Mr. Pokemon, he called me a bit ago raving about something, and was begging me to come by, I told him you were attempting to start your journey so I would send you over as a trial run. He's just past Cherrygrove." He said. Cat nodded excitedly, sitting Panj down. (The Panj river is a river that forms the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.)
"I won't let you down, come on Panj." She said and raced out, the small pokemon keeping up with her easily. Laevis blinked before shaking his head at that, much like a Tsunami, there was no stopping Cat.
---
Cat walked along the route to Cherrygrove humming happily. Panj kept up with her, knocking out some pokemon that caused her trainer to stop on her walk, Panj was enjoying this so far, her trainer seemed very excited to have Panj and that was all the mattered to the blue crocodile. When they arrived in Cherrygrove, Cat took Panj to the pokecenter for a quick refresh, they stayed long enough to eat and rest before continueing on their journey, the sun was setting as they approached Mr. Pokemon's house, Cat went in.
"I'm here on Professor Elm's behalf." She said. Panj coming to a stop beside her and looking around. There were two men at a table, one was the world famous professor Oak, the other was an older gentleman in a suit. He looked over.
"Ah, you must be Ms. Cat, yes, Elm mentioned a young trainer would come in his place. Hold on." He rose and went over to a large cabinet in the back. "I know the couple who run the pokemon day-care near Golden rod, they said a trainer took his pokemon and left the egg behind, thought I might be interested in it. So I gladly accepted it." He came over with a small cylinder, which held an egg. "Please deliever this to Professor Elm, he is leading authority on pokemon evolution and if I remember correctly is interested in the origins of pokemon, this might help." He said. Cat took it, carefully. "You know Professor Oak, I assume?" Cat nodded.
"Hello, sir." She said. Oak waved.
"Hello, I see Professor Elm intrusted you with one of his rarer pokemon, if he sees potential in you, then you should have this." He slid a red square over to her, it was about the size of a small notebook. Cat's eyes widened.
"A pokedex!" She said taking it, she flipped it open and it lit up.
"Register your name." A robotic voice emitted from the pokedex. She carefully sat down the eggs container and quickly typed in her name. "Thank you Cathrine 'Cat' Forsberg. I am Indi, I will record any information you gain about pokemon on your journey." Cat looked up at Oak.
"Thank you so much!" Oak smiled and nodded.
"You are welcome, have a safe trip back, I must be off, old friend, Mary needs me at the radio tower and that is quiet a journey." Mr. Pokemon nodded.
"Swing by again, Sam." He said and Oak left. Mr. Pokemon smiled at Cat.
"I take it you are heading back as well?" Cat nodded. "Well here," He pulled out something and gave it to Panj who ate it happily. "That should help her with any stress she had from battling pokemon on the way here. As Sam said, have a safe trip back." Cat smiled and picked up the egg.
"I will sir, it was nice meeting you." She said as Panj helped by pushing the door open. Cat put her hip against it so it wouldn't shut on her pokemon then slid out of the house. Suddenly her pokegear went off, "Crap, Panj, here, guard this." She said sitting the cylinder in front of the pokemon, Panj situated her head ontop, watching over the poke egg. Cat flipped her Pokegear open. "Hello?"
"Oh dear! Cat, get back here!" Came Elm's voice panic stricken, "And hurry!" The line then went dead. Cat blinked before scooping up the egg and Panj.
"No time to waist, Elm sounded panicked!" She sand and ran back to Cherrygrove. She spotted someone running towards her, remembering Elm's voice she suddenly lifted Panj off the cylinder. "Bite him if you can, giving you a toss." She then threw the pokemon at the boy, who had vibrant red hair. He raised his arm to protect his face and Panj bit into the sleeve.
"OW!" He shouted trying to shake her off, Cat sat the egg container down before slide kicking his legs causing him to fall on his face, Panj let go and ran over to the Egg standing in front of it. The boy sat up glaring at Cat. "What the hell!" Cat pointed to the pokeball he was holding, it had the leaf symbol on it.
"That isn't yours." She said.
"How would you know!" He shouted standing up. Cat held up Panj's pokeball, on it was a water symbol.
"Cause, Laevis was going to select that one, and no one else was getting a pokemon today, that's the grass type that Elm had with him, he marks his pokeballs." The boy smirked.
"Proves nothing, I might mark my pokeballs with the pokemons type." Cat shook her head pointing at the water drop, in the center was an E.
"That one has an E on it as well." She said. "Professor Elm was panicking when he called me, which means something happened, here you come running down the route, with a serious look on your face, you weren't running from danger, and you had that in your hand. As well as you haven't denied my accusations at all." The boy growled before thowing the ball out.
"Tackle her!" He shouted as a Chikarita came out, it looked confused but went at Cat. Panj suddenly leapt in front of Cat and scratched the Chikarita across the face making it cry out in pain and stagger back.
"Scratch it again," She said. "Just don't hurt it too badly." She added on, Panj nodded and dodged a Tackle to scratch the pokemon again. It went down unconscious. The boy cursed returning it to its ball. He picked up the egg container and threw it. Cat gasped and dived catching the container, when she looked up, the boy was gone. "Damn it!" She said, sitting up. She heard barking and spotted Inferno barreling at them, she yelped and ducked covering the egg, she heard Inferno yelp and felt him lightly hit her back. She looked up to see that Panj had tripped him with her tail, causing him to roll to a stop and lightly bump into Cat's back. Laevis soon caught up.
"Cat!" He said.
"He went towards Voilet city." She said. Laevis nodded.
"Thanks, go back to dad, let him know, I'm going after the boy." He gave a short whistle and Inferno leapt up and over Cat racing off towards the exit towards Violet City, Laevis close behind. Cat stood shakily.
"Well now, this has been quiet a day." She said to Panj. Panj spat something out and Cat picked it up.
"Oh!" She pocketed the item. "Well that will help, come on, let's hurry back." She said.
---
They arrived in New bark town later in the night, most lights were out in houses, Cat went into the Lab.
"Professor Elm?" She called out. Elm looked up from his desk.
"There you are, it's terrible, someone stole-"
"Chika, I know, I battled him." Cat said hurrying back to Professor Elm, the Police officer with him looked at her in surprise.
"Really? Did you catch his name?" Cat grinned.
"I can do better, Panj was able to get ahold of this." She handed the police officer the item Panj had spat out.
"His id…Hmm…Silver huh." He examined the card. "This should help out a lot." He said. "Thank you." He then left pulling out a walkie talkie. Elm groaned putting his head in his hands.
"Laevis went chasing after the thief." He said. "Took Coal with him, I'm worried for Laevis, he's very passionate and he's probably mad." Cat sat the egg down in front of him.
"Laevis will be fine, here, this is what Mr. Pokemon wanted you to have." Elm stared at the container in amazement.
"So it's finally happen? An egg, we've found them in the wild, but this could be the first on found in captivity." He said. "Thank you, Cat, for going to get this…" He paused as Cat pulled out her new pokedex. "IS that!" Cat nodded. "Wait, Professor Oak was there as well?"
"Yeah, he says if you see potential in me, I should have this." Elm stared at it.
"Cat, how was the trip, any difficulty?" Cat shook her head.
"No, only that the 'Silver' boy got away." She said. Elm nodded.
"Well then, Cat, you passed, you already have Panj, who loves travelling with you, I think you should continue with your plans as a trainer, but let your mother know first." Cat beamed.
"I was going to."
