Hey there, fellow Pokefans, and let me welcome you to...
POKEMON CRYSTALMETH!

POKEMON REFINED CRYSTAL!
Intro:
It started with a story. About 10 years ago, either here or on a long lost GameFAQs board, a user reminisced about the build-up to Gold and Silver back in the 90-s. The marketing drove him crazy, he said; he'd scrutinize every new ad for a glimpse at a new 'Mon, learned their names, and drew fanart. The info was scarce, but that just drove him on. He counted the days to release, and spent sleepless night. Daydreaming.
Flash forward to release day; He pops the cart, meets Elm and chooses his starter. He blazes out to the first route, excited for the myriad new monsters--hiding in caves, dwelling on land and underwater--and bam! A random encounter! The text flashed:
WILD RATTATA ATTACKED!
He stared down the face of this common rat, and in that moment, I knew him. I knew his disappointment at finding a brand new exciting place pregnant with boring, last-gen pokemon. No other gen has been as awful with this, than Gen2. That is, until now.
My sales pitch for REFINED CRYSTAL is very simple: its the Johto you know, sans Gen1 filler. That's right, all 100 Gen2 Pokes(and their close relatives) have been redistributed throughout the whole region for variety, accessibility, and balance. There're some exceptions, mostly plot related: Gyrados at Lake of Rage, the Farfetch'd in Ilex Forest, etc. But the goal is to showcase that odd 100, and make you fall in love with them once again.
Features:
-The complete Gen2 experience. Beat the league, conquer Kanto, challenge Red.
-All Gen2 Pokemon catchable or otherwise attainable.
-Reworked trainer parties. No more Pidgey for Falkner :)
-Gen2 mechanics preserved.
-New npc's to trade with.
-Starters available in the wild.

Notes:
This is very much a freshman project. Any and all criticism is welcome.
Also, if I, a long-time lurker and a Japanese language major with zero-zilch-nada coding experience could whip this up in a week, so could you. Really. And you'd have a blast.
As Steven King said, "The water is free. So drink."
Bugs:
-I used the "Jynx" sprite for overworld Celebi and its not intended to move, in-game. So when it does...it's something to see. Set the time to SUNDAY and go off looking for it :)
-Kanto's missing a few npcs who traded you pokemon. Some have been cut, some relocated to Johto. Some, not all.
