FireRed hack: [HotW #113] Pokémon Sanctuary

The Sanctum Rangers Present:
POKéMON SANCTUARY​

Story:

The Region of Kawdor was a peaceful place, many cities blossomed and the people were happy and free. However, 40 years ago there was a great disturbance in the region to the south, Kanto - a massive volcanic explosion had devastated Cinnabar Island and forced the Pokémon inhabiting the region north.

Previously Kawdor was a Pokémon free zone, the monsters hadn't managed to cross the valley separating the two regions. But with disaster looming back in Kanto they no longer had a choice.

Unprepared for such an invasion, and having to deal with the beasts even more dangerous than before due to their panic, Kawdor suffered greatly. Cities had to be evacuated and eventually only one place stood safe: Sanctuary City. However the great gems of Kawdor were lost, far from the reach of the city.

Surrounded by thick forest, strong city boundaries and the protection of the Sanctum Rangers it was the only safe haven in the region. It took many years to establish enough Pokémon knowledge to recreate equipment that they had heard of from the regions further south.

Since the invasion the Sanctum Rangers have had a new mission, to push the boundaries of the city out and isolate the lost Crystals. Nobody knows why the Elders and the Scientists need the Crystals, but they promise finding all 8 will allow the people of Sanctuary to escape to Kanto.

Your story begins as you wake up on the first day of Ranger Training, you better get over to the Sanctum Building before you miss your chance!


Features:

• No Gyms,
• Unique Berry System,
• Limited Items - You have to use what you have wisely as a Ranger!
• No official Rival, however you do have recurring Comrades and Enemies,
• Interesting Starters (which shall not be disclosed :P),
• No typical Pokémon Centers, there are different ways of healing now,
• No more 'picking' your starter, this hack uses a quiz to decide your first Pokémon.

As stated above this game have no Gyms. Badges of commendation are received if you do your mission well ;).

Due to the sudden changes in Kawdor there are very few other towns and villages left in one piece, and who knows who is living in them...

Known Problems:

• Movement Permissions error here. Go down a bit to bypass this. - Corrected for next beta.
• At the Nidoran Event you can only die on the FIRST Nidoran, dying on one of the other two stops the event repeating for some reason :S.
• Reading the book in your bedroom until the very end causes a Red Screen. - Corrected for next beta.

What do people think about Male/Female players? Would it bother you if there was only a male player? Would you like gender based events and such or is it only the correct grammar that you like to see?

I have an almost the same idea. Well, its not an idea anymore since I'm working on it.

Anyways, the screenshots are JPEG. Its bad quality. :\
The story is interesting and I like the no official Rival thing, its awesome.

Its just that JPEG doesn't show up normally on my computer. Can't wait for it to be released. By the way, on the first release up to what point will it be?

EDIT: I think you should include gender based events, that will make this hack more awesome. ;)

If I get round to releasing a Beta version it will run to the 2nd Badge of Commendation. Hopefully by then I will have a titlescreen and introduction sprite before that. I won't be releasing it if it still looks like Fire Red XD.

Thanks for the feedback ^^ I'll think about including some gender specific events (slightly different for each gender) in the future.

At the moment it is just Generation 1-3 Pokémon, however I may put in some 4th Gen Evolutions later on.

Currently I am scripting out the first routes, then I will be mapping a cave and scripting that this weekend hopefully.

I've been busy most of last night and today, scripting an event and mapping out another route. I've also been working on a SPECIAL script which connects these two suspicious looking tiles:


More to come tomorrow, including showing two of the events I have scripted and more information on what I'm working on now.

Looks great, and promising; except for the green, and wight road tiles. Those colors do not go together xD
