    Awesome Games Done Quick 2016

It's that time of year again! Welcome to the biannual speedrun charity event known as Games Done Quick! This particular event's donations go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Volunteers play games at incredible speed ("Speedrunning") for entertainment. The event is streamed live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to the charity. This is the winter event, with a summer event starting around July. Awesome Games Done Quick is the first of two Speed Running events during the year that runs from today, the third, to the tenth.

To go with the event, donations offer various incentives in the way of prizes and specified runs, names, and choices that the runners make depending on how much is donated to which bid, so donate, donate, DONATE! Along with that, the Yetee sells a number of (pretty incredible) shirts during this time of year (They do so year-round, but only during GDQ do we see an influx like this) The shirts are pretty great in general, but the important thing is that part of the price is donated to charity, so if you can't justify donating alone, just buy a shirt!

And be apart of it, because regardless of whether you're giving up your money or time, there's no real loss here. It's all good fun for a good cause!

Seeing two people not only reach Mike Tyson blindfolded but actually BEAT HIM is about the coolest ****ing thing I've seen this week.

What a fantastic week. My highlights:

-Super Mario Kart race for the finisher
-Transformers Devastation one-handed playthrough and abundance of terrible Transformers puns
    -The whole Disney block
-2 players 1 controller Super Metroid run
    -SOMA
-Donkey Kong Country 2 102% for the skills displayed and great commentary
    -KAIZO MARIO BROS 3
-Super Mario Maker Blind Race (does get boring when it gets one sided)
-The whole Awful Games Done Quick block
    -BLINDFOLDED PUNCH OUT RACE
    -Mirror's Edge
    -Mega Man X race
-Blast Corps. Must watch for the dev commentary from a Rare fellow who designed this game.
-Majora's Mask 4 player 1 controller final boss fight
    -Super Mario Galaxy
-Ratcher and Clank Up Your Arsenal which was a real surprise. There's some Mario 64 level movement strats going on here
    -Shovel Knight race

Really strong overall. Not a whole lot of stinkers and just enjoyable throughout.
