Hack of the Year 2019 - Judging Applications
Introduction
Hello everybody! As most people know, PokéCommunity holds an end-of-year competition to celebrate all of the effort that everybody has put into their works throughout the year and to determine which hacks will enter the forum's own Hall of Fame. This year's competition has two rounds; the first is a vote that is open to (nearly) all members in a number of categories that will narrow the field of entrants to only three finalists. The second round sees a selected group of veteran members judge the final three hacks, eventually giving us the overall winner. In the past, the judges involved in the final round have generally consisted of the ROM Hacking forum moderators and one or two members that the moderators' choose behind closed doors. This year, however, we are opening up applications to be a judge on the second round's panel. We are also seeking to expand the number of judges to five people, meaning that there are three open spots that you can apply for.Elligibility
- You joined PokéCommunity prior to November 2019
- You have made at least ten posts
Requirements
As the second round will consist of reviewing each finalist, applicants need to show that they have the capability to write a basic critique of a hack. To successfully apply, you will be required to write a short review of a hack of your choosing. We don't want people spending days on playing an entire hack and then writing out an intricate review that might not even get them onto the judging panel. Accordingly, the following rules will be active:- You may review any publicly released hack
- You may only review content up to and including the first gym
- The review must be 750 words or less
- Numerical scores aren't required
How to Apply
After you've written your review, just post it in this thread! Alternatively, you can send a PM containing your review to the Hack of the Year account. Following the closure of the applications, the forum moderators (DrFuji and Avara) will choose three applicants to help them form the final judging panel. The three chosen judges will then be announced and this thread will be closed.Applications close at 23:59 UTC on the 15th of December, so get writing!
